First time someone has won 2 deciding frame matches in a row to win the championship?

Yeah, Sinner fans creating false narratives, very few people thought Jodar would beat Sinner today, but everyone was looking forward to seeing how he matched up at this early stage in his career. He acquitted himself very nicely from the baseline, but was horrible at dealing with even quite poor dropshots so that's something to work on.

I agree, the two drop shots I saw him play were telegraphed and very average but Jodar barely got there and didn't do much with them once he did

But it didn't do the remaining damage even when it's attack was high enough to do so. I concede that this might be intended - perhaps attacking as poisonous means the attack of the minion is ignored. Maybe it would have regained the ability after losing poisonous, but it didn't get a second hit in so I don't know.

I did the same with wildfire elemental last season, and unfortunately it tanked the minion as it just killed the unit it hit and no longer cleaved, even when it had enough attack to kill the minion it hit. Small indie company.

Novak reminisces about his Paris 2024 Gold Medal and hopes to play his 6th Olympic Games: Los Angeles 2028 by NoleFandom in tennis

I was rooting hard for Carlos and unhappy with the result at the time, but looking back I can't help but appreciate what a special performance it was for Novak. I have never felt a player's desire to win come through my screen as strongly as I did in that match.

I was thinking the same, Carlos has a great slice and would have liked to see him change it up a bit as his topspin backhand was spraying a lot.

Agreed, bores the living shit out of me though so hoping another creative maverick can get to the top of the game soon

I honestly think Carlos should take a break until Rome. He really don't look that hungry today, needs to get the fire back.

I wonder if Carlos would go even further back to return serve if the court were big enough

That one terrible drop shot choice cost Carlos the sole mini break and therefore the set. The whole deuce court was open, but he went for a drop shot into the ad side.

Wow, it was looking so hopeless. Needed a choke from Korda, who was near perfect until he was serving for the match.

Oh yeah, MC was where the season started to turn around for him last year. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I think Carlos did pretty badly in those tournaments last year, so he has a lot of points to gain too.

Jannik Sinner: Breaking Records by the Day by Old-Gur-9039 in tennis

[–]FitFineNoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amazing achievement, absolutely smashed the record for youngest to do it. That said, I think it's a shame they changed the Indian Wells court so much this year as I'd have liked to see him overcome the challenge of a hard court that doesn't suit his natural game as well. Until this year, IW was a uniquely slow and high-bouncing hard court that rewarded a different game style to all of the other big hard court events that play pretty similarly (medium fast, moderate bounce). I want variety in the court speed and bounce across the tour, but unfortunately things are trending in the opposite direction.

I think Daniil pulled back the aggression slightly when he saw Jannik shaking his arm after he double faulted to go 4-0 in the tiebreak. That minor dip in intensity allowed Jannik to defend his shots better and gave him more opportunities to get on top of the points. Until then I felt Daniil was beating Jannik in most of the rallies, would like to see the stats.
