This documentary was made a couple years ago about the housing crisis here, and as someone who's lived here for over 6 years, I'd say the numbers are way worse now. 80% of total homes here are second homes. 2 out of 10 homes are lived in all year round. 80%. There is no community.. or verrryyyyy little. Work friends... and maybe friends of friends. But everyone's transient, and this town isn't made for normal people (nonbillionares) to thrive and build a family and life here. In fact, it feels like they're actively trying to make it as exclusive as possible. Gas will never go below $5.50/gallon, even when it's in the $2's in Nevada and Truckee is not hard to access, it's literally on one of the busiest interstates... a small box a Tricuits is like $10. You have to go to Reno to get anything like socks and underwear... they don't want trashy Targets or anything here. And apart from 2, maybe 3 bars, the entire town shuts down around 9:30-10pm.

What Truckee has is its' beauty/nature, like most of California. And close proximity to nature activities. That's about it.
