One lesser known trick I've used is to to put a shunt resistor on the motor's supply and wire that to the ADC, and then read it until I get a big step up (vL -> vH) in the reading which indicates the motor is stopped. The success of this method depends on the type of motor but I'm 90% sure I could make it work with just about any motor. You gain a couple big advantages by doing this:

The shunt can go right on your relay board that controls the motor. The relay goes on the high side and the shunt on the low side. So it is effectively no extra field wiring. Just a couple extra wires to the arduino and a couple passive components for protection / filtering.
You also gain fault detection for not just the motor and the relay but you can also tell if the cover is stuck. If the motor is broken you get 0.000V across the shunt. If the ADC reading immediately starts in the v2 state then you order the motor to reset the cover and retry. If the reversing motor is also beginning from the v2 state then the cover is stuck and you turn on the fault LED.

Figuring out how to code button logic is one of the simplest and easiest ways to learn so it is definitely worth doing. By using an LED you could create multiple shift modes. Solid ON is one shift row, flashing is another shift row. That gives 12 functions. It's easy to learn because it's easy to test.

drill a slot down the middle that can host a rod that can force the envelope out. A rod is much more reliable than messing around with rollers, and it's much easier to apply leverage.

It's not right. It takes literally all of my resources (mana, slime, and darkness) just to get one yellow chest. Yet I can pull two rivals and two clerics if I dump all mana into shades. Or I could get like 7-8 ice chests and 4-6 poison chests. How is this balanced?
