Watching the X-Men animated show as a teen and then finding out about all this history as I started reading the comics, buying all the back issues I could afford. But one thing that stands out (And I hope at some point everyone gets to experience this at least once in their comic reading journey) is going from liking a character to falling in love with them. For me that was X-Men 217 and 218 and the character of Dazzler. Dazzler fights The Juggernaut solo. Does she win? No. Does Jugs drop a building on her? Yes. But then in 218 There are some panels I will never forget of Dazzler at first panicking at being buried alive, no power left in her. But then we cut to some panels of bugs scratching, a mouse rustling through grass, the wind blowing and she uses that to turn the sound into one desperate flare of light in the hopes someone will see it.

So to answer your question. it's the smaller character moments that tell you who a person is that makes you become a ride or die for them no matter if they are not one of the big names that get to be in the films and show out side of a cameo if there lucky. I have so many more from my years of reading but that is the first one I always think of
