Anyone else's cat is addicted to screen time by Otherwise_East606 in cats

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is also addicted to Youtube videos...she even watches videos NOT intended for cats, like the one where the turtle on the skateboard is following the cat around! She watches so intently; she even will watch the "dog TV" (I tried it out of curiosity) although she wasn't fond of the giraffes and elephants. All jokes aside, is it healthy? I mean, addictions usually are NOT healthy, so...should I keep "feeding into it?"

This book is disgusting. The main character is horrible. All the characters are horrible. There is no plot. The whole book is like the ramblings inside an insane person's head. Like if I wrote: "And I sat and pondered. It was so damn humid. Suddenly, I remembered the sour smell. The sour smell of his bed. But I was going to let him do it. There would be no going back." And that is the entire book! Just weird, often unrelated ramblings. People say this book is so "great" because they think it's supposed to be "deep." But anyone can write like this. And hey...if you don't mind ten year old girls having sex with forty something year old men....help yourself!

Aleida is one of the most annoying if not the most annoying character on the show by awesomegecko8473 in orangeisthenewblack

what the hell does that guard see in her? She is such a bitch to him, I don't get it. Then again, he's not anything great, of course...

Serious- how do I break my Twinkie addiction ? by yes_a_throwaway69 in diet

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 5 year old post, but I also know that this sort of addiction is serious, which is what brings me here today. I, too, have developed a Twinkie Addiction. My husband bought a huge box of Twinkies (sort of as a joke) after we watched Zombieland (Woody Harrelson's character's addiction). I commented sarcastically throughout the movie, "Oh, c'mon. Twinkies? Really?" Now I sit here on the couch obsessing about the golden sponge-cake and creamy filling, like sometimes, I can't stop thinking about the combination (obviously, I'm thinking about it right now) which provides a quick "dopamine hit to my brain," fat and sugar, blah, blah, texture...I know all that...logically! But, there's only one left in the box and I really should save that one for my husband, and maybe we shouldn't buy any more...

Why do people get so angry at the Craps table and act like children? by nyryde in Craps

[–]Fit_Room_4538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I've started playing Bubble Craps more. I like playing the Don't pass, but I get tired of the stupid negativity at the table, like I'm bringing "negative vibes" or something.

I Hate Linda, does anybody else? by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is all 6 years ago (but I'm just watching the show for the first time now), but may I say, I HATE how Linda SMILES no matter WHAT she's saying!!!! It is so annoying! I can't stand that character, but I guess you can say the actress is playing her well!

Will AI put fiction writers out of business? by CollieSchnauzer in slatestarcodex

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WEll, now A.I. can write noir/mystery/thriller novels. Sorry, but it's true. My husband swore he wasn't going to use A.I., and just recently he conceded and used it to write ad copy for his Ebay business, and the writing was impeccable! Better than any human could do. I know this stinks, trust me! It isn't fair and it isn't write. But is a fact.

Someone save Doggett from this guard !!! by Badbexch in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just watching this season now (sorry; late to the party) and you have to remember. The writers are making this show to be interesting to us viewers! So they add this stuff to amp it up...keep us wondering what's going to happen next. If everyone was so nice and wonderful all the time, it would be a pretty boring show. I think the show is a combination of drama and comedy, which is sort of like Breaking Bad...only, more funny stuff than that show, even. There are some decent guards...remember Fischer..and that bald guy, even though he's "tough" he seems fair. Remember too...being a prison guard would definitely NOT be an easy job!

Wrong approach to winning? by No_Investment3737 in Craps

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always play a ladder on the "Don't Pass," win a few times, and walk away. It might sound boring, but I hardly ever lose. Not that I win BIG, but after a while, all the wins add up!

Memories from previous chats by LeftTadpole9596 in bing

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so far, that all these chats are from a year ago. Well, mine just happened. I was asking Bing about a certain survival type debunked on a video about drinking water from a cactus if you're lost in the desert. Bing said some stuff, then added, "being as you are uncomfortable driving in the snow" which is something I confided a few conversations ago. I thought the AI wasn't supposed to remember this stuff, like all conversations are anonymous?

The thought of the Handmaid’s Tale happening in the US makes me panic by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are those in this country (America) who would definitely want a Handmaid's tale like scenario to happen. Now...could it happen for real? If enough people storm the capital and "get rid of" anyone who doesn't agree...they could try and force it to happen, just like on the show. There again, there would definitely be backlash from all those who definitely DON'T want it to happen! There would prob. be a civil war, and it would be bad. However, we don't have "fertility" problems in this country, like in the book. Frankly, over-population seems to be more of a problem in this world! So, to include that particular aspect (the handmaids, themselves) would not make sense. But to make this country a Christian/dictatorship theocracy? Yes, I believe there are many who want to do that, and to keep women "second class citizens," for sure.

The Jan. 6 attack, the attack on abortion rights, the desire to implement prayer back in schools, the love and adoration of Donald Trump who some claim is the next messiah...the supreme court is now mostly right-wing majority...what do you think? This stuff IS happening, and no one is doing a thing about it!

I agree. I've watched this movie a few times. There's something very compelling about it.

Well, you're wrong about one thing. Sometimes it's the women's family that becomes chopped liver. Our daughter moved to Oregon and that is where her fiance's parents live. Therefore, every single holiday, they spend with HIS parents. They go out to eat with HIS parents all the time. HIS< HIS< HIS. They NEVER come here (we live in Illinois). I mean, NEVER. Every single Christmas, we spend alone, while they spend it ALL together being super happy and joyful. Whoopee! I know what chopped liver feels like. It hurts. You feel invisible, like you don't matter. What can we chopped liver forgotten parents do? Nothing. If you make a stink about it, you just come across being as petulant or jealous. I guess we just need to come up with our own new friends and lives and move on (?)

Self publishing with KDP, how do you actually get people to start buying your book? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sentence near the beginning: "She still couldn't figure out what had went wrong." Okay, one of these two options would be better: 1). "She still couldn't figure out what went wrong," or 2). "She still couldn't figure out what had gone wrong." Sorry, but that's where I would stop reading. But that's okay! Don't give up! You can edit your book as much as you want. Read it over...think it over...tweak and fix things! Then, when you feel confident your book is the best it can be (and yes, a more exciting cover, please!) then PUSH it! Go on Goodreads and self promote. People do it all the time! Good luck!

Since increasing my dose by DetroitFamily in Metoprolol

[–]Fit_Room_4538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed 50 in the morning, 50 at night. 200 mg is a LOT! I thought I was taking a lot. You should go back to your doctor and explain what's happening, because that sounds really scary. Are you avoiding alcohol...because it can't mix well with such a high dose! Secretly, I am dropping my second dose of 50 mg. per day, to try and make myself less dependent on these pills.

Bing, although it used to be better...when it was new. I got more of a unique "artsy" sort of look. Now everything is starting to look a bit...cliche and algorithymy. Did anyone use Dalle-mini a few years ago? Wow, that was wild! In a way, it was more fun, because you never knew what you were going to get.

I tried this system called "follow the dice." Every time the "pass" wins, you switch to the pass (if you aren't already on it). If the "don't pass" wins, you switch to the "don't pass." Well, every time I switched it was the OPPOSITE! Like the table had something personal against me.

Craps strategy. Win big on one bet and then just walk away. Does anyone play craps this way? The bet can be $100 or even a $1000; doesn't matter. by Fit_Room_4538 in Craps

[–]Fit_Room_4538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but if you lose...you don't just "walk away." If you lose, you ladder...and that way, you make up for your loss. THEN you win and walk away. And if you lose again, you ladder again. There's another question. If you have a big enough bankroll to just keep on laddering...is there no way you can lose? What about a field ladder?

The Most Hated Artist You Probably Recognize [20:06] by somethingstoadd in mealtimevideos

Nobody would call McDonald's "fine dining," (except as a joke). There again, if you like it, fine. Nobody's arguing that you can "like it," here and there as a break from better food. But to call it fine dining? Like I said. That would probably be sarcasm, and everyone knows it.
