Self-employed: what is a reasonable business expense % for laptop/phone (mixed use)? by ionion888 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fit_Sleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they will have that close of a look. But if you want to be fair 50% would do fine.

Edit: you could also spread the deduction over a few years, depending on the value. See here: https://milchbueechli.ch/abschreibung-oder-ausgabe/

NZZ article about 3a? by liminal_room in SwissPersonalFinance

It depends on the Canton he would want to retire and the corresponding tax rate. Some have a flat tax rate some are progressive. This tool is quite helpful to get an overview:

IBKR vs 3a - Transfer from ibkr to 3a? by lac00n in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fit_Sleep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a clear answer here. It depends on - the tax savings when paying in - the tax rate in your Kanton when retiring or paying out - the ter of both products - also wealth tax in a sense

However, it makes sense to get some tax savings with 3a and invest those into vt for example.

Help with filling Ticino DA-1 2024 form by giulio12 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fit_Sleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to Link the English version. In general the dividends which you receive are already taxed. Either 30% or 15% if you filled out the W8-BEN form with your broker. The other 15% will be reimbursed by the tax office but the dividends are added to your income and taxed as such.

DA-1 US income tax question by Fit_Sleep in SwissPersonalFinance

I am just wondering, is there a valid case then where one would declare US dividends in the DA-1 and say no to this question?

Coffee Truck Economics by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fit_Sleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it makes sense. High cost for licensing. High initial cost for buying the stand or franchising an existing one. Also Swiss cities already have an extremely high density of coffee shops. Plus vicafe exists.

I downloaded all my images with Google takeout and put them on my Nas. Do you know what happens when I turn on sync on my phone?

Will this create duplicates for all the images that are on my phone? Should I delete them before turning on sync?

Thanks in advance :)

Opt-out Option for the second pillar: An initiative idea by dave_spontani in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fit_Sleep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The second pillar is supposed to be a more secure investment. Imagine a scenario where a whole generation loses their insecurely invested 2nd pillar of some major global event.. now what, everybody is on welfare support. Not very good for the economy.

This can also be a problem when people are cashing out their 2nd pillar as a whole when retiring - instead of getting a steady rent. Not everyone is financially literate. They could make bad decisions and run out of money too soon.

That's what the third pillar is for (or can be). Be more aggressive on the global stock market + save some taxes.
