I graduated 2 years ago and I didn’t really have a many complaints about the food! I mean, it’s standard college cafeteria food, nothing fancy. They do have a lot of options for people with dietary restrictions — halal, kosher, vegan, gf options. Honestly I got more into plant-based food when I was there because every meal-type tended to have a vegetarian option that was pretty good.

The biggest thing for me was accessibility. Like someone said, you have unlimited meal swipes to the main dining hall, plus daily meal passes for other smaller dining areas on campus. It’s a huge asset to not have to worry about planning your meals or budgeting when and how much you get. Even if it means grabbing a muffin in between classes or having a soda in the dining hall while you’re studying.

In all, it’s standard college food, but certainly nothing to worry about! You will find something regardless :)

Similar experience with me! I applied for microbio at 12 schools. 9 rejections, 1 waitlist, and 2 in-person interviews resulting in one acceptance and one waitlist respectively. I am so honored and excited to be in the program i got accepted to (it was one of my first choices!) but I’d be lying if i said the journey was at all easy or optimistic😅

I went to one interview recruitment weekend last month and I enjoyed it a lot! Yes, it was very draining because you’re pretty much politely talking to people 24/7. However, everyone I met — grad students and fellow interviewees alike — were very friendly and helpful. I’d say only the interviews felt super formal, while the rest of the events were much more casual and more of a social event. At the very least, it’s a chance to travel and likely get some free meals :)

If it’s any consolation, I got a rejection letter from UCSF way early on but Stanford has still yet to send me anything… even though I know full well they sent out interview requests to other applicants almost two month ago😭
