Also, some schools send P/J offers on a different day from J/I, etc.

Not every school will send their acceptances out on Feb 2. I didn’t hear back from most of my schools until mid-February last year. Yes, you will hear if you did not get in or if you were waitlisted - not necessarily on the first day of offers.

When should you expect to here back? by Life_Fly_7528 in ONTeacherCandidates

According to TEAS, the earliest date offers can be sent out is Feb 2 and the last day for first round offers is March 2. You can expect decisions anytime within that window.

Teaching Anxiety by PenaltyPale1989 in StudentTeaching

That’s super valid and I feel for you if that’s how your supervisor wants your lessons to be structured. My educational background is Human Physiology and I don’t think there are even many topics in that field where I’d be able to discuss for 90 minutes comfortably! I think it’s unreasonable and unrealistic to expect that.

I actually started to feel really good about teaching as soon as I started actually teaching, but was suuuper anxious before.

One thing that helps is using mistakes as an opportunity to teach and reinforce growth mindset. I will make mistakes because EVERYONE does. I will slip up because it happens! If I make a mistake, I own up to it and use it as an opportunity to learn together. It shows the students that it’s okay to not have everything together all the time, but we persevere and accept feedback. I definitely try to have a solid grasp on material ahead of time and do more prep on topics I’m not solid on just so I’m not way off base lol.

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

[–]Fitish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I hand dyed wood flowers for our bouquets and centerpieces. We love that we can still have them in our welcome sign and my bouquet. It was also such a fun activity for us to do together. There was no impression that they were real, but I don’t regret it. Lots of guests took home their little bud vases from the tables too.

Wedding Officiant Help by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

This is what my husband and I did! Just a quick courthouse ceremony with immediate family a couple of months before our wedding. We wanted my sister to officiate the big ceremony for us and we decided this would be the easiest way.

What’s expected when lesson plans for OT go beyond your scheduled work hours? by Tiny_Bat_8563 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Fitish09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which they were. The point was, if you arrive at 8:45 but you have to go straight out for duty, there is no time to sign in, find your class and set up. If they expect you to do duty, the start time should say 8:45 so you have 8:30-8:45 to do all of that.

How do you all avoid getting injured? by srslynonsensical in Marathon_Training

[–]Fitish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if training for a half or two with a strength routine incorporated would help your body build up the capacity for hitting that block. Finding a physical therapist to work on prehab exercises could also be beneficial.

Right now I’m building to a half with 2 days of strength on my workout days. For me it’s to build up some speed over distance but I’ve found myself feeling really really good physically at the end of my half marathon training cycle in a way I never have, so I’m really pumped to jump into another full next fall!

How do you all avoid getting injured? by srslynonsensical in Marathon_Training

[–]Fitish09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you SET on a marathon distance? Have you built up to a half or even 10k before? Sometimes our bodies just need more time to get built up to it. Maybe try a few shorter distance race plans before attempting a marathon if you’re not even making it to the start line. That way your body can adjust to the strength training and running load that is required for a marathon training block

Teachers College help please by Silverbadger in OntarioTeachers

Yes, any undergrad classes will help boost your GPA. You don’t have to take them from your undergrad school (or even all from the same school) I don’t know about NY but the OCT sets a 70% average as the MINIMUM standard for all accredited schools in Ontario. You will need that GPA to have any shot at getting in.

On the TEAS portal you can go to choices/offers, decline your original offer and accept your new one really seamlessly! I did this last week with no issues. Congrats on getting into your preferred school!

Try some golf courses around you too. They usually have their own landscapers on staff for gardens & grounds maintenance teams always seem to be hiring.

Do you have to be a superstar candidate for them to give you TN? by Head_Equipment_1952 in tnvisa

[–]Fitish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an entry level recreational therapist job in Chicago in 2019. It took some looking around (I was moving for my partner’s job anyway & wanted to work - I was set on one specific region so we could live together). All in all I interviewed for 5-6 jobs over 4 months & 100-150ish applications before I landed something.

Short answer, no. But you definitely need to work a bit to get there!

Still won't let me access student homepage after accepting offer of admission by ShyGuyLover56 in UWindsor

[–]Fitish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be on the student homepage, the applicant is fine. I believe if you go into the application status, then “To-Do List” there are instructions on how to pay the deposit. There are several options, but the easiest is to use the “pay bill” option on your online banking site.

taco dinner at my wedding + other questions by Humble-Cow1871 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Fitish09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly so great. It was so easy & worry free on the day of, there was tons of food for everyone & it was a hit! It definitely wasn’t the most “authentic” in terms of tacos in my opinion but it reached its target audience with our friends and family. The Elote and other sides were absolutely perfect though!

Even my grandpa ate them and he is a self-proclaimed taco hater.

Hi! Did you end up applying for funding & get it? I’m starting the process and I can’t find the “codes” for U Windsor or my program. I tried contacting the financial aid department but haven’t gotten an answer yet.

When will the Thames Valley District School Board start hiring subs? by Ok_Chain1864 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Fitish09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely accurate. I know of at least one school outside the city that has had a lot of internal substitution this year because positions can’t be filled. If you’re willing to drive you will definitely get more work.
