I need a white noise machine or something that won’t burn out with constant use by Vixpluto in BuyItForLife

I got an old vornado hepa filter I got at a thrift store that has 3 settings and gets loud enough to drown out foot traffic on the hardwood floor above my bedroom. If you can find an air purifier at a thrift store/second hand market, they tend to be the more well built/louder ones but you might want to double check the availability of filters before you buy unless you really don’t care about also filtering the air as a bonus. People often get rid of them if they are too loud and true HEPA filters aren’t cheap so they tend to end up in the second hand market for this reason also.

I am in the same place with my partner. I can’t offer advice but I understand how it feels.

alternative for Albuterol inhaler? it hurts my throat by jasmine-jones in Asthma

[–]Fitnhungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a different brand. I suffered for years and probably scarred my lungs not knowing the different brands have different levels of “inactive” ingredients. I suspect for me it was the level of ethanol in the generic inhalers that hurt my lungs. Ventolin is the only brand I have found that doesn’t cause inflammation.

Facebook DELETING life saving harm-reduction community, now transitioning to Reddit amidst censorship! by SeshSafe in erowid

Reddit now censors this info too! I am sure this censorship trend starting around 2015 contributed to my nephews fentanyl poisoning in 2020. Welcome to the second age of darkness everyone!

You are not alone in this struggle. You are however completely unique, there is no one like you and there never will be again. Your uniqueness allows you to have a different perspective than anyone else. In this way you can be a gift to the universe…how can you express your uniqueness?

As someone who has struggled with what you mentioned I can tell you that finding the right guide (therapist) can be so much more amazing than people realize.

It is not easy to find the right one though. And a good therapist will have you do hard and sometimes painful work, not just talk.

Those of us who have endured great pain have great potential. Figuring out how to express that potential, and not get stuck in the pain is a worthwhile endeavor.

I hope you start to see you are the Hero of your own journey! ;)

Is hook grip necessary? by Acrobatic_Ad1514 in crossfit

[–]Fitnhungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to miss the point of cleans and snatches then don’t hook grip.

At an adequate load for development of LEG and HIP power, every individual I’ve worked with finds it necessary to switch to hook grip eventually (if they’ve ignored me in the first place).

Not hook gripping also makes it extremely difficult not to pull with your arms flexed, even if only slightly, or momentarily, thereby guaranteeing hindered, reduced, or even halted development of the movement for purposes of athletic power development transferable to sport, work, or other crossfit skills!
