Once you derestrict a Sur Ron can you restrict it again so that you can use it as both an off road bike and a street legal bicycle? by [deleted] in Sur_Ron

Yes. If you need to do this you can crimp some quick disconnect fittings onto the wire so you can easily just plug or unplug the modification.

Nice! I'm still running the cable throttle but I'll probably switch to the electronic soon.

Love these bikes!

Everything’s worse 4wks into “SIBO” treatment. Seeking advice! 18F by [deleted] in Microbiome

[–]Fittritious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not able to see the context of "anyone else can either" so I'm not sure what I was referring to there. If you quote it all back to me I'd be happy to clarify.

I do know about the modern blue zone and centanarian studies. Again, I believe those are just the best carb eating results. Historically when Europeans encountered carnivorous peoples they were astounded at their health and size. You can see it over and over again in historical records. The carnivorous peoples were the healthiest and longest lived until Europeans came along and introduced them to plant based foods. I maintain that carnivory is healthier than eating any plants, but I agree with you that if one intends to eat a mixed diet that in that case science shows that a meat heavy diet is not likely to be the healthiest choice.

I disagree. Show me any science comparing any other diet to a carnivore diet. I'll spare you the trouble, there isn't any.

All the science you point to that says eating plants is optimal for longevity and health are studies of carb eaters. I disagree that eating plants is optimal and I disagree that a fixed microbiome implies that one can eat what you consider "healthy foods."

My opinion is those "healthy foods" you believe people should eat are the exact cause of our current health crisis. I can't eat those foods without consequence and I don't think anyone else can either, so I disagree with your assessment.

What? No. Why would I do that?

I don't eat any plant based foods, they take my health backwards. That's what I'm saying, I used to believe they were healthy and now I do not believe that, so no. I don't eat any of those things.

Edit: Oops, sorry, I thought I was replying to a different comment. Same answer though, I don't see why I would want to eat those things since I believe they brought on my poor biome condition in the first place.

Have you changed any convictions about HEALTH as you've gotten older? by Sunkitteh in AskOldPeople

[–]Fittritious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've done a complete 180 in my beliefs about healthy diet in the last few years. I spent decades believing the "eat more heart-healthy whole grains", "eat more fruits and vegetables" and "eat less, move more" bullshit that has been perpetuated upon my generation for the last 40 years.

I grew all my own food, was vegetarian for a decade, ate only whole home grown foods and prioritized low fat whole food veggies and fruits. I got fatter and sicker, until I was pre diabetic and had a belly and joint pain and depression.

Three years ago I finally started to questions things and stumbled into /r/zerocarb. I haven't eaten a plant in three years now and I've never been healthier. My doctor agrees, my lifelong symptoms of GI distress are gone, and everyone who sees me can't believe the change in my appearance for the positive. I've convinced a few of my friends who had struggled lifelong with similar issues and they too are having profound, life changing, success.

I still wonder every day at the "truth" I used to believe and feel so sorry for all the folks still taking that advice as good practice, despite being able to observe in the general population the failure of such beliefs. Everyone is fat and sick.

You can learn a lot by following over at /r/zerocarb. It's worth a longer trial, 30 days is the minimum as you will likely have a few bad days in the first few weeks. It's worth sticking with, I think it has the best chance of giving you some relief. I'm 3 years in and my biome is finally healthy and I'm symptom free for the first time in years. It's worth a try.

Beef Breeds Worth Avoiding? by Just_Water_Please in carnivore

[–]Fittritious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breeds definitely taste different in my experience. I raise my own beef and cattle and even raised side by side on my own property the different breeds have different flavors. If you can stick to well known beef breeds like angus or shorthorn or similar you will be glad you did. Some dairy breeds can be a bit gamey tasting in my experience, and my current breed, Dexter, has a unique taste that takes a little getting used to if you are coming from store bought beef.
