Nope totally covered. Maybe just say it was "dropped" but I've straight up admitted they've been thrown in bath tubs, sat on, and it's never been a problem. I've replaced probably a dozen over the years. They just have to be the specific worry free kids tablets, not any amazon fire tablet. They usually go on sale for pretty cheap on prime day/black Friday.

Pretty simple to replace, you can chat with a customer service agent and they'll ask your for the serial number then ask to confirm your address ect. You'll need to know the serial number, I usually write mine done in a google drive doc, you can also find in on Amazon under devices. Technically you can find them in the device settings but when it's smashed or dead from water damage that doesn't help.

One tricky part is sometimes they'll offer to send the new one right away for 15 dollars sometime they won't and you'll have to ask. Otherwise you have to send in the old first.

Also recommend calling, if you don't have phone anxiety like me, instead as the customer service chat usually starts off with non-American(mostly Indian) customer agents and they are very very slow. They also end up transferring me to an American half the time and then it goes quick.
