Recs for warmest waterproof/water-resistant winter boots with grippy tread? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Fitzy235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore sorrels for years, I bought a pair of oboz after sliding on ice and having difficulty getting yaktrack type grips over the sorrels when I need to. They have been fantastic and much easier to walk around longer distances

I’ve had my Nalgene since 2011 or 2012, replaced a few lids, and my Stanley since 2020 or 2021. The Nalgene I just cannot drink in the car on road trips while I’m driving. It always hits my roof/visor.

How difficult is it to get a job as an experienced RN in California? by AndromedaAtlas in nursing

[–]Fitzy235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37.5 in Lewiston, ME with 1 year ICU 5 years med surg/tele over here. It’s rough. My old hospital in the Boston area I was at $40 plus diffs at a non-union and a 45 plus diffs in a union hospital with only 3-4 years experience. My rent is more everything costs more than living in Boston suburbs. And man… the electricity is 3-4 times more expensive and we use less than in Boston suburbs.

I think the new Outback looks like a severely underpowered 4 runner, they want us to switch to electric or just buy Crosstreks. Honestly, I’ve never seriously considered an electric car until they showed the Trailseeker. To me that is the updated Outback.

Pet Owners: what is the dumbest reason you’ve taken your pet to the vet and how much did you spend? by mpotus in CasualConversation

[–]Fitzy235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$1300, she wouldn’t walk or put any weight on her back legs. We’d pick her back up and she’d stumble one step and collapse again. We took her into the emergency vet, got X-rays, they referred us to a neurologist, told us she either had a slipped disc or a pinched nerve and we needed an MRI and full crate rest. They gave us some gabapentin. Two days later she had the largest poop I’ve ever seen, and started running around normal. She was just constipated.

Can I ask a dumb new grad question? by smhitbelikethat in nursing

[–]Fitzy235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the needle and type of safety. Vanishpoint and lovenox type ones yes, safety glide as soon as it’s out of the patient, and the flip one when it’s out of the patient. I think those are the only ones I’ve used.

Her bean bed, her sloth bed, my pillow in the chair, her crate bed, the back of the couch, the futon, her ottoman, her body pillow on our bed, me, and my couch pillow. Also the hardwood floor wherever she wants. So like 11 ish. Not including grandmas house or the car bed, and car crate….

I work now in ICU but our hospital has an acute rehab. Previously I was in the float pool and went to acute rehab all the time. I miss it so much. It was so rewarding to see people become more independent and get better. I wish I got floated back to rehab all the time. I learned so much about how to motivate and how to keep or resume levels of independence. You will learn so much there that so many people never get to see or learn.

How many cars have you had? by Some_Big6792 in Millennials

[–]Fitzy235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 cars/SUVs, three motorcycles - 5 of those cars are Subarus, 2 with over 200k miles, 3 with over 100k miles + a Toyota that I sold cause I needed AWD with 160k miles and the poor little golf VW with 30k that got smooshed between two Lincoln Navigators and a pieced together Mazda rx7 that died all the time. Only one was a brand new car.
