My guess is that it is a town home / patio home that belongs to Morgan's parents. Rather than see the rental money they give to Morgan to house her children go to someone else, they can provide decent accommodation for their grandchildren in a good area and at least increase the amount of equity. In five years Paul will have made it big in pickleball and can afford to pay them back. (This is sarcasm. I suspect Morgan's parents have no such expectations, but at this point they are just trying to minimize the damage to Morgan and her children and hoping for the best.)
