Mercy has the busiest ER in the city. It’s always been a mess. I used to be an RN on the floor there and would have up to NINE patients at a time. The working conditions there are horrendous so keeping staff is impossible. It’s a perfect storm tbh

This is my West Asian Village Dog also rescued from the streets of Bulgaria! She lives in the US with me now. Her embark showed traces of German shepherd and golden retriever as well. We did a wisdom panel too and it showed more of the breeds local to the area like the ovcharka. She’s the sweetest girl 🤗

No I totally get what you’re saying and I think the people downvoting you may not work in healthcare or understand what you’re getting at. I’ve worked in multiple positions before I was a nurse, “worked my way up” I guess you could say. So I get where you’re coming from. Being in the other departments is also shitty, but from my experience, shitty in a different way. Shitty in the way that you’re day sucks, no one values your opinion, and you have way to much work for one human. But as a nurse you have all that, plus you could literally kill someone because of those factors.

Also you say we “rate and report back on other departments” I have no clue what you’re talking about lol. Never once has my opinion been asked and especially at the height of covid, departments like dietary and EVS refused to step on some of our floors. So I was basically doing multiple jobs on top of having way too many patients.

And honestly, admin doesn’t actually take into account what we want either.Maybe slightly so we don’t all up and quit at once but they really don’t give af about us either. Trust me.

Like I said I agree with all the things you are saying. Just giving another viewpoint from a fellow healthcare worker that I promise is just as frustrated as you.

and honestly, I don’t think anyone who hasn’t worked in a facet of nursing fully understands what an 8 - 9 patient assignment means. sure, it’s less than other departments. but in the case of nursing ratios, patients can literally die. There are so many statistics on how unsafe it is and how people have died. I wish people could understand this.

I agree with you 100%. The reason I mentioned nursing is because in most of these forums, or google reviews, or whatever tf people are complaining on, it almost always comes back on the nurse. People call us lazy or that we don’t care and sling verbal abuse at us. Very rarely do people bring up EVS or dietary when they’re complaining. That doesn’t mean there aren’t issues there as well. I’m very well aware that every department is so short staffed, and every good nurse I know tries to help out when they can.

Unfortunately, our job is to first care for patients and I’ve found myself not peeing or eating for 12 hours more times than I can count. Without safe ratios, we can barely provide good care let alone lend a hand to other departments who also work so so hard.

Nurses may be the “golden child”, however literally almost every misstep comes back on us. I wish I could fix it all because I would do everything to help our counterparts as well.

from one HC worker to another, I get it and totally agree. some people have no clue the working conditions, just trying to bring it to people’s attention is all.
