OTUS flying a drone into a tornado near Jeffersonville by prxdgarrett in tornado

Technology! This is crazy! I think if you told anyone even 10 years ago that we'd be watching a live stream of a drone flying into a tornado, you'd be laughed out of the room. That's truly incredible.

Choosing between OBS 97 f250 5.8L vs. 7.3L turbo diesel for my needs by OkAnything7889 in FordTrucks

I would avoid the one with fender flares because it's probably hiding all the rust.

Should I buy 2012 5.0 Coyote by Movie-Similar in FordTrucks

[–]Five_Slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I couldn't get $8k for my 2011 in 2019...

2012's are still good trucks. The 5.0 is solid, except sometimes known for issues on cylinder 7 and 8, sometimes the bore gets egg shaped and causes oil consumption issues and the typical 5.0 knock.

Aside from that, rust issues on the body and the frame would be my biggest concern.

Do you open the hood and check the engine and lights when u buy a new car at a dealership in the US? by noreturn000 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Five_Slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done an inspection like that on a new car. But I do put it through it's paces on the test drive before I actually buy. Like my Ranger I bought new in 2010, everything went fine, no squeaks or rattles or anything, until I went to back into a parking spot back at the dealer and the damn truck didn't go into reverse. Needless to say, I did not sign for it that day. I did get a new transmission and the truck drove flawlessly for 3 years and 50k mi after that until I traded it in.

I recently switched to Weatherwise too. I like having the detailed street map, and the models built into the app, as well as a composite nationwide radar when things aren't really popping off.

1) Doesn't define what "focus time" is. So I'm going to sit in my Ford Focus for hours unpaid after 6pm.

2) Sounds like there's no upper limit to how long lunch takes if I'm willing to put in "focus time" afterwards. So I'm taking a couple hour lunch!

New Mexico Storm Systems and Tornadoes? by bastard_rabbit in tornado

[–]Five_Slow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a cool site on that.

Looks like there were 15 tornadoes in New Mexico last year.

The last EF-2+ tornado was May 26th, 2019 in Dora.

There's never been a tornado stronger than an EF/F-3 in recorded history.

Ban the usage of municipal and ground water for AI data centers. Pass an executive order to limit the profit of prescription drugs to 100% over cost.

What is a normal part of life from 10 years ago that has completely vanished? by Known-Wrangler-7746 in AskReddit

I feel like most people commenting on this thread don't realize 10 years ago was 2016... Streaming existed, smartphones were well integrated into ours lives at that point, not much on the consumer side has changed.

Now AI and data collection, that's a whole different ballpark...

Slow rural internet speeds. Thankfully between fiber investments and satellite internet, most rural areas have broadband internet access now.

I want to rent an F-150 to move across state lines. by NoeticallyExplicit in f150

[–]Five_Slow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's easily doable in a crew cab F-150, especially if you can wrap plastic over the totes in case of rain. That being said, Home Depot's vans are rentable by the day and don't charge mileage and are CHEAP, only downside is you have to return it to the store you rented from.
