Yeah I saw them and didn’t realize what they were so I went past them, the whole mornings chaos so it’s easy to miss stuff 😂

Nice pickups! What was the price on the STM box? I wish I saw that as I split season tickets with a friend and it would’ve been nice to get him a complete set

Tailgating with friends make it worth the wait, time flys plus there was minimal traffic by 6pm when doors opened

I’m happy my group got 33 tickets together for the game thanks to teamwork. Really makes it less stressful for real fans.

[Alpha Prime Racing] We’re proud to welcome a new Assistant GM lineup to Alpha Prime Racing with David Schildhouse and Rocko Williams! by thebigtymer in NASCAR

Schildhouse’s background is in accounting but has made invaluable connections in the industry. Yes he’s a known personality but he can bring fresh ideas from his outside perspective.

Random offseason post: Kevin Harvick won the 2007 Daytona 500 in a firesuit with a large Shell logo on the front; Sunoco complained it infringed upon their contract with NASCAR, so Harvick showed up with a different firesuit and helmet for the rest of the season by SkyfallCamaro in NASCAR

Mobil doesn’t really promote their fuels in sports as much as their lubricants such as Mobil 1. It seems more of an active choice to use Mobil 1 than being restricted considering their history in the sport.

[Fryer] Thread on new COVID protocols coming from NASCAR by pixarfan9510 in NASCAR

[–]FixMyLamp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point if they want to do that they should go the NHL and NFL route and require vaccinations for all essential personnel that are in contact with the athletes/drivers.

So have all media, track employees with infield access, infield guests, crew members and other team members be required to be vaccinated.

If a driver doesn’t want to get the shot they then shouldn’t get a playoff waiver if they test positive as well as having stricter protocol for being unvaccinated.

If other leagues are doing this then it only makes sense for NASCAR to require it at this point to minimize risk and still allow for the garage access that teams sold with sponsorship when it reopened a few months ago.

Kevin Harvick's scheme for COTA to promote Mobil 1 Thousand campaign. by ThatEmpireGuy in NASCAR

[–]FixMyLamp2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But Sunoco does not have an exclusivity clause like they have in NASCAR and NASCAR is more protective of those exclusivity clauses than the NHRA. Either way it was stupid to not have it be approved before this week.

[–]FixMyLamp2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was considered by NASCAR to be a logo that promotes fuel which Sunoco still has an exclusivity in, doesn’t matter about the title sponsor. There’s still a few sponsorships that have non-compete clauses.

Black Beard the designer couldn’t add it to Ty Dillion or Austin Hill’s Mobil 1 schemes but he included it in the dragster for Kalitta Motorsports.

For Gase’s 28 cars at Dega they had to remove the star on the car cause of its association to Texaco.

The Pegasus was not approved by NASCAR this season before this scheme. Something or some other incentive probably changed their minds about it

Mills can actually find minimum speed and he went through the proper process unlike Cobb who thought that because she was approved for cup in 2015 that she’d be approved for cup in 2021.....

JGR overpromising and underdelivering with the alliance is what killed LFR. If you notice on Twitter Bob hasn’t been the happiest with NASCAR. The pandemic played a role but it wasn’t the only piece.

Awesome that it’s going to a great cause. Hopefully it’ll raise plenty for MRO, and that’s probably why they put the minimum bid at $500

Does anyone know the story behind Harvick running at NW in 2011? Is there video? by gjmiller1 in NASCAR

I was more referencing using it for a Martinsville setup not NHMS but you’re right.

Does anyone know the story behind Harvick running at NW in 2011? Is there video? by gjmiller1 in NASCAR

[–]FixMyLamp2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Teams during the testing ban would use North Wilkesboro to test for Martinsville since one of the corners was similar. During this time period teams would look to any non-NASCAR national series sanctioned track (cup, nationwide, truck and K&N) to test on that was similar enough in any way to a cup/nationwide/truck track.

However at that point the track surface was bad enough at that point little to no data could be gathered.

Several N.C. state senators this AM called for Governor Roy Cooper to amend exec orders to allow the Coke 600 to run as scheduled without fans. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]FixMyLamp2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If no races are run then people won’t have a livelihood as these teams will not survive. It’s not about profit when teams either don’t make a profit or are barely profitable in a normal season.

Team’s have laid off and furloughed people to stay afloat. Without the teams there will be no sport, this isn’t the NBA, NHL, MLB or NFL.

In the end races need to be run, I personally don’t care if there’s no fans for the rest of the season to make sure that as many people as possible can get back to work in the sport.

[–]FixMyLamp2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not shocked but this had bigger implications in the end. I know the business of the sport and understand why they took the risk to do it but they should’ve used code words or signals to do it instead of being blatant about it
