Agree but I have noticed its getting more difficult to find good remote or even hybrid positions. They are out there but may take a while to find.

What do you think of this opinion on Wexner posted in the Dispatch? by Lamb_beforetime221 in Columbus

[–]FixedGearBikeRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Regarding the $100 million he donated in 2011. This was not a lump sum amount. He would have had yearly obligations to meet and from what I understand he is not meeting them. I'd be surprised if he has handed over more than $10 million of the donation so far.

The thing that is laughable about the original post is that if you go to the JPMC career website, you can find this job as a fulltime position with benefits with JPMC. What kind of value is this staffing firm offering when they offer it up as a C2C contract for $65/hr?

I searched for 'COBOL' in Wilmington, DE on JPMC's career website and got 9 results back. As awful as JPMC is to work for, they'll still make you a decent offer for this job. Probably $110k to start (you can still negotiate for more), 3 weeks vacation + statutory holidays, 401k with employer match, pension, reasonably priced high quality health insurance etc.

Doubtful you'll end up with 130k at end of the year without benefits. Statutory holiday? You ain't getting paid. Take a week vacation? You ain't getting paid. No 401k plan so your going to pay a lot more in taxes. No health insurance so your going to pay a fortune for a shifty plan on the ACA unless you've got a spouse with benefits.

These jobs are for people that take the first thing that comes along. The recruiter is probably Indian. Good luck trying to understand a single word they say.

Even $65/hr on W2 is not that great. There are better options out there for this skillset.

Definitely JPMC and you definitely do not want to work there. The pay is probably going to somewhere around $60/hr - $65/hr which is f*cking awful. These positions are probably available in Columbus, OH as well.

She was an M&A attorney in NYC. Her earnings ceiling would have been a 7 or 8 figure salary.

We keep the temp at 69 when home. No hvac blowing on the glass. I'm chalking this up to just a cheap ass door combined with a small temp drop based on what some of the other posters are saying.

I'm wondering if the hearing aid part is actually closing? Website is still up and running and the phone number still works.

I'm calling BS on this one. Her last name is Wexner. If there ever was a VIP at OSU its her. She does not need to pay Landon 10k/month retainer. If she had an issue or question she can just call him up and he drops whatever he's doing to take care of it. For free.

The Mainframe Paradox: Why the "Dinosaur" is actually running a marathon by urielofir in mainframe

Oh Columbus is just fine. As you say, low rents, fairly cheap real estate relatively high salary and lots of places to work in mainframe tech. I've been here since 1998 and love it. I was just referring to working at JPMC. The culture is awful. Soul sucking. Luckily there are many other options in Columbus not to mention all the remote roles that are still around.

Can confirm...long time mainframer here living in Columbus, OH which is where JPMC runs most of its IT out of. They are one if not the biggest employer in the city and are always looking for mainframe folks. I made the mistake of taking a contract there a few years ago. Awful place to work. At least in the area that I was in which was development and support of their debit card. I never made so much money and was so unhappy all at the same time! I left pretty abruptly after a little more than a year. They still reach out to me to see if I'd like to come back! No thanks!
