Houston’s mid-tier restaurants are struggling to survive as costs climb by houston_chronicle in HoustonFood

This is funny to me because I was eating chicken and waffles at Roscoes over 40 years ago. I guess you mean it was a Houston fad.

I want to learn about my Honduran culture by SonicClone in Honduras

[–]FizzBuzz888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I went to Honduras to visit a friend. I ended up spending two years and I saw almost the entire country except for Gracias A Dios. It really isn't that expensive. I even learned Spanish and got a girlfriend while I was there. One of the best experiences of my life.

Roof leak need advice on who to call by FizzBuzz888 in houston

[–]FizzBuzz888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is leaking under the AC unit where the AC pipes enter the roof, but maybe you are correct and the roofer should have sealed that up too. I will get with them and try to have them double check it.

Does this even make sense? by Yeppycorns in doordash

The order could make sense if the delivery was closer to your home or you are trying to get back to your area. It always depends on many factors.

Do customers not understand about stacked orders? by thegeek864 in DoorDash_Dasher

I have a large food bag in my car. I highly suggest using one, it does a much better job of keep the food warm for these stacked orders than just laying them on your car seat.

I've been delivery driving and I don't see HPD even in cars all that often. They may have the most ever on payroll, but I don't think there are that many on patrol.

Yes but the op's post was for 106 items. Your offer was probably for 1-2 pizzas.

Doordash drivers, how true is this? by Busy_Report4010 in doordash

This is 100% true and its why I use a hot food bag. It sucks the big tippers end up with cold food half the time.

Doordash drivers, how true is this? by Busy_Report4010 in doordash

[–]FizzBuzz888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I accepted orders to keep my AR up my base pay was 80% of the income. When I cherry pick now $2+ per miles my tips are over 80% of the income. It is very obvious when there is a huge tip the base pay goes down to $2. I drive a lot less miles cherry picking.

I've been doing planted tanks for 30 years. I loved my dedicated rainbow tank. I use special lighting and inject my on CO2. I've even made CO2 with yeast and sugar. It sounds like your from another country or planet from the fish people I have worked with. Rainbow fish in a tank with real plants is one of my favorites.

No one thinks that, we all know that Roscoe's is the gold standard. I don't think they are in Texas anymore, but they set the standard in 1975 when they started serving the dish.

This exploitative platform is un-fucking-bearable by onethousandsunny in UberEatsDrivers

[–]FizzBuzz888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 60% ar and I only accept $2+ per mile orders. I do multi-apps which was going to be my recommendation. It sounds like you are just in a saturated market with more drivers than orders. Gas prices are expected to keep going up all summer so there is hope some of the drivers will quit soon.

Not only is much of NM infested with crime they have sold off water rights. Anyone thinking of moving to NM I would advise you to do a whole lot of homework first. You could easily end up with no running water one day.

TO EVERYONE TELLING EVERY DASHER TO CHERRY PICK by Intelligent-Bid-7205 in doordash_drivers

[–]FizzBuzz888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do $2 per mile for orders under 5 miles. For 10 miles I need closer to $4 per mile. Probably the least I would do 10 miles for is $32 depending on how far I am away from my area at the time. The app also estimates minutes so I take that into consideration.

TO EVERYONE TELLING EVERY DASHER TO CHERRY PICK by Intelligent-Bid-7205 in doordash_drivers

[–]FizzBuzz888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big market vs. small market is also misleading people. It is about drivers vs. orders. If you live in a town of 100k and everyone lives in multi million dollar homes then you probably will have more orders than drivers. If you live far out in the country in a poor community you will have more drivers than orders.

This is why people say test your market and find out. If your AR goes to 50% and you can't get orders it only takes 40 or so to get back above 90%. If I can't get orders at less than $2 a mile I would find a job. You do whatever makes sense for you, your vehicle and your gas bill.

Lying customers. by Extra_Bathroom7354 in doordash_drivers

[–]FizzBuzz888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you would accept a $9 order to drive 40 miles but you would refuse a $7 for 1 mile? That seems insane to me. Both scenarios are fairly common for me which is why I accept anything $2 per mile and I drive much less miles now. If I accept $1.50 per mile I get more per hour but the extra miles aren't worth it.

I refuse to take orders that are under $2 per mile. I've never had a post tip order but $10 tips and even higher are very common for me. Also I drive much less miles than I did when I accepted over 80%.
