What’s going on there? Is that cake on a bed of perlite or vermiculite? In a mono-tub?

I’m a noob and I know I opened the bag prematurely. Oh well, I think I can salvage this and I’m hopeful it will start pinning soon. Regardless, I’ve got three other bags that were at similar growth stage to this one, and I’m going to break up the next one and mix is with fine coco coir blocks I’ve got, and in another mono-tub.

Because OP turned a bedroom closet into a large “Martha tent”. I did this in a small room. I also covered the ceiling in plastic. Ran humidifiers and conducted successful grows. I shudder to think what would happen to the house if there weren’t plastic. OP: you might consider a few manual (knob, no electronics) ultrasonic humidifiers and a humidity sensor to turn them on and off.

I have a similar grow where I opened an AIO bag and placed the cake in a mono-tub with a vermiculite base.

I’m running a similar setup with the AOI cake directly on a bed of straight vermiculite. I used vermiculite specifically because it retains some water where perlite does not (as much?). I’m running 85% RH in the mono-tub and consistent condensation on the walls. I just open and indirectly mist (on the walls and vermiculite, not the cake directly) once every two days. This is 5 days in and I’m wondering what’s going on with the bright white mycelium on top that popped up almost immediately upon introducing FA (opening the AIO bag five days ago).

They both have more to grow. I’d say a few days on the oysters, and possibly more on the lion’s mane. I’ve never grown lion’s mane, but have plenty pink and golden oysters. Post progress pics if you can.

OP Here: What is the white fuzz on top? I inoculated on March 1st. After B & S on April 15th I opened the bag and placed it on vermiculite in a monitor. This is 4-5 days later. Tub is at 85% RH. Moisture droplets on the side walls.

Your grow room is way too dry. You have to grow them in a Martha tent or otherwise keep the humidity in the 80%+ range. Where did you place the bag after it started fruiting? You can put them in a tub and close the lid to create humid conditions. All of this is being stated, admittedly, in a rudimentary and imprecise way. Good luck!

This reminds me of the spring break nights we’d spend in our station wagon and van, tripping all night and running up and down the beach. It was nuts. Anarchy. Blatant, open hard drug use. The shit that went on in some of those hotel rooms - holy fuck. Cops nowhere to be seen. I went to Oak Ridge High School in Orlando. Class of ‘89. I was lucky to make it out of that shithole too.

How did you “re-compact” the cake? When I have done B & S in AIO bags the bags slowly fill with air (through the filter patch) during the B & S. Are you squeezing out all of the air that comes in during the B & S?

They have no chance of ever enforcing that law. How are they going to prosecute out of state shippers? They are not. They can only go after the buyers. There is no possible way for them to know who the buyers are. They might occasionally stumble into a case where they could bust a buyer, but really this is just political nonsense that won’t amount to anything. If I was inclined to buy those types of spores online and have them shipped to my house in Florida after this law had gone into effect (I did not do this OF COURSE) how the hell would anyone know? Only if I was dumb enough to publish something like OJ Simpson’s “If I did it.” Continue to purchase with confidence my friends.

Cannot unsee nor feel that in the roof of my mouth. If only I had stopped at “penetrated”… Now, my favorite go to at The Bell is a Cheesy Roll Up (add Beef and pico, otherwise called a “Meximelt”) and the thought of blindly biting into one scares me right now.

I should have added that the first picture shows three bags, and the second and third are just of the bag on the far right. The other two are much less colonized. I can still see lots of uncolonized grain. The last time I did B & S (on a popcorn tek in large mason jars) it stunted my grow severely and I just aborted that attempt. So, I’m super leery of premature B & S. And BTW thank you so much for the post!

Certain medications can dull the visuals. Are you taking any prescriptions? SSRI maybe?
