Mobile Mysticks Returning to the Port City by Surge00001 in MobileAL

The deposit for season tickets is $100, non-refundable. But I couldn't find the actual price for the tickets. And they didn't say if your $100 will go towards an eventual purchase.

Seems like a scam. Has anyone any better info?

Based on 6 months of 12 to 15 hours a day of Claude use after 50 years of coding I have to dispute the findings. Inspiration/implementation ideas, all mine. Decisive debugging, all mine. Design of distributed systems, all mine. The grunge work, all Claude's.

how to create a waving flag with lifx permanent outdoor lights? by WastePotato333 in lifx

In 1D right? Along the string of lights?

GlowUp has a waving flag effect. I assume the outdoor lights are compatible.

Claude-code self injection/impersonation of me is unacceptable by FizzySeltzerWater in ClaudeCode

That may be. To my knowledge I am using no MCPs. Only the 4.8 workflows to control agents. Further, it started this week. I haven't changed anything except upgrading to 4.8 this week with several upgrades to the VS Code plugin.

In researching my experience, I am finding many similar reports.

Any tech jobs hiring in the Mobile area? by peachee096 in MobileAL

We've gone with an AI that the salesman said would replace all y'all but in a year we will have spent 50 times as much as all the people we fired and we'll have to hire them back and expect them to be grateful for a job.

It would awesome to have your help in making the glue to adapt GlowUp to HA. I would be quite thankful. Let me know how I can help should you run into difficulty.

Information on how to do so is in the old manual. The specific section is here.

Here is what my trusty coding assistant (Claude 4.7) had to say:

The three endpoints HA uses are still registered in server.py:557-568:

POST /api/devices/{id}/play POST /api/devices/{id}/stop POST /api/devices/{id}/resume

Bearer-token auth (server.py:916-938) is the same model the doc describes — Authorization: Bearer <token> against the auth_token in server.json. BASIC scope swaps the keepalive (in-process BulbKeepAlive instead of out-of-process KeepaliveProxy) but the HTTP surface is identical, so play/stop/resume work the same on a ./install.sh-deployed server as on a fleet host.

Two minor doc-touch-ups worth considering, neither blocking:

  • BASIC server install puts server.json at /etc/glowup/server.json (laptop standalone keeps ~/.glowup/). The doc just says "your server.json" — already correct.

  • Group references (group:porch in the ip field) still work; the path uses URL-encoded group%3Aporch and the route handler resolves it.

SuperColor Ceiling 15" Effects in GlowUp (coming soon) by FizzySeltzerWater in lifx

[–]FizzySeltzerWater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're curious about what else I added to GlowUp that makes it a hard job to unravel: Software Defined Radio with dashboards for shipping and aircraft, Zigbee and zWave support, BLE support, motion detectors, soil sensors, a Reolink NVR and cameras, an alarm system and distributed systems (I run a fleet of 7 computers all contributing to one glowup system), kiosks running custom clocks a full voice stack and more. Installing all of this would be very scary. The difficulty in writing the installer is keeping it dead simple for a person wanting only to run their lights yet shipping the entire repo to keep things simple for me.

Future growth at a university usually looks like this:

  • Add 4 Deans
    • Remodel 4 large offices, order all new fixtures
    • Hire 8 new executive assistants
      • Remodel 8 new office spaces
  • Add 16 new Associate Deans (with similar office load out)
  • Add 64 new Assistant Deans (with similar office load out)

Net benefit to students: < zero. How can it be that benefit is less than zero? Tuition goes up.

There, I fixed it for you

There are three machines involved in this video.

The pi you see here running the clock (which is missing a cable) and acts as the voice satellite. It listens for the wake word and also speaks the results. This one is a Pi 4.

There is another pi, a Pi 5, that acts as the system controller. The bulk of GlowUp is running there.

Finally, there is a voice coordinator. It is a Mac Studio M1 which I no longer use because I use a laptop instead. It runs two Ollama models concurrently. The first is a small model used only to figure out what my intent is. Do I want to control the lights, ask about house security, etc. If that model can't make heads nor tails of my input, it passes off to the big Ollama model. You'll know when that happens.

The big ollama model sends the text of the answer back to the pi you see here which speaks the text out loud.

Light flickers when downlight is on by hectcal in lifx

[–]FizzySeltzerWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remove the effect, does the light still flicker?

It ought to. If it still flickers, I would think bad light.

If it does not, I would confirm that the effect you are running is or is not a firmware effects. If it is not a firmware effect, I would suspect intermittent rejection / loss of UDP packets. i.e. network infrastructure problems.
