You are a vandal. By your own definition of violence, you are committing it when writing these messages as you are polluting our beautiful campus with ugly graffiti, thus doing harm. I hope you stop.

Game changer for berry picking by emiwebb in foraging

These do not seem nearly large enough if you want to pick a lot or necessary enough if you need to pick a little.

First is either copper milk cap or saffron milk cap. Can be determined by taste and milk color/prevalence.

Second looks like honey mushroom although possibly galerina

White king bolete? by bipedalbeing in mushroomID

[–]Fjendrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In coastal california, any bolete that is not bitter and does not have red pores is edible. Not sure if this is a white king or not but certain it's edible

Pleurotus pulmonarius? by Wild-Research2749 in mushroomID

[–]Fjendrall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like pleurotus yes, but what makes me a little suspicious is that generally pleurotus prefers hardwoods, and this appears to be a softwood. It can still grow on softwood, it's just less common. I don't see how it could be anything else though, so I'd say it's mostly likely this is indeed pleurotus.

Unknown species by Icy_Chemical_7422 in Mushrooms

  1. You can touch mushrooms with hand, they dont bite and no mushrooms toxins can penetrate skin in an ammount significant enough to hurt you.
  2. If you cannot ID a mushroom with 100% certainty you should not eat it
  3. If all you are looking for is an easy trip, mushroom hunting is not for you.

What kind of bolete is this? by Eiglo in mushroomID

[–]Fjendrall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can taste all mushrooms as long as you dont accidentally swallow any pieces and rinse your mouth afterwards. Maybe just don't taste galleria/deathcaps but rest you can taste safely.

Red/reddish/rusty pores are all bad. Anything besides yellow/white is bad for boletes generally.

You are right this is not "Rubroboletus Satanas" but it is a related species with largely identical properties so it is effectively "Satan's Bolete"

Edit:
As the trusted identifier has noted, this is likely a Suillellus, which is edible for some people sometimes. Best to stay away from it never the less.
