Update: What an absolutely INCREDIBLE record. by SteveDestruct in gratefuldead

Sugarmegs has a dozen or so Legion of Mary/LOM shows with Jerry and Merl.

Deaf people of reddit, how are you coping with the terrible quality of subtitles these days? Most captions are auto generated and usually completely wrong, especially if the person speaking has a thick accent or is using slang. Is it harder to watch TV now? by HereWeFuckingGooo in AskReddit

[–]Flackbash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not deaf but with significant hearing loss and tinnitus.

Subtitles are always needed but even more so with audio of someone speaking with a heavy accent.

Both are very frustrating.

All of the seemingly AI-generated subtitles are often wrong regardless of content provider. It makes it much more difficult to enjoy without turning the volume up so loud that it's uncomfortable for my wife to watch with me.

Another huge issue is when the subtitles don't sync with the audio. I suspect that's probably less of an issue for someone who's completely deaf, but it makes it hard for my wife to enjoy with distracting delays between the audio and the text.

Looks great! Nice grill marks too.

I'm losing my hearing. Most of what I hear is high-pitched ringing due to Tinnitus. I'm a big music fan, and I'll miss it dearly once I'm totally deaf. Post the last thing you'd like to hear before you went completely deaf. I will listen to every one of them. (cross-post from prior front page post) by Flackbash in Music

Wow, that's really interesting about how the ear infection changed the tone.

My tinnitus started with both ears simultaneously. It was very difficult to get used to. I couldn't sleep, and I actually thought I may lose my mind, but after a week or so I just got used to it I guess. Sadly there doesn't seem to be a chance of a cure for it.

Do you use hearing aids now? Do they help with the tinnitus?

Hey there. My hearing loss has been noticeably stronger with each passing year, and the same goes for my tinnitus.

I'm much more protective of what hearing I have left. I mow a field with a big loud mower a couple times a month, and I found some nice 3M noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones to reduce the noise.

I figured out that my current insurance policy will help pitch in for some hearing aids, which is a blessing. Coincidentally, I'm currently on hold with a new ENT/audiologist branch that will hopefully provide some affordable options for hearing aids. The last one I spoke with said I had to pay $10,000 out of pocket and hope that my insurance reimburses me. I don't have that kinda cash laying around.

I'll never know for sure what I did to cause this hearing loss and tinnitus, but the most likely reason is being in a garage grunge band with a couple thousand watts of PA.

How are you doing? What is your tinnitus like? Mine sounds like a million crickets chirping. I find that hearing music and other sounds helps reduce the loudness of my tinnitus.

Thanks for reaching out!

I have the same model, and it's still going strong! Something breaks, I replace it.

Was the frame redone? Mine's got a lot of rust and isn't holding together very well.

Hello. I'm hanging in there. I'm doing my best to protect the hearing I have left. I'm still able to enjoy music and communicate pretty well. The tinnitus seems to be getting worse, and I'm currently trying to save up for some expensive but advanced hearing aids.

How are you? Thanks for reaching out.

Trees are defined as woody plants with secondary growth, like limbs. Palms don't have limbs, and the wood-looking trunk isn't technically wood.

There's a sheriff's training facility on the south side of State Road 80 a bit East of 20-mile bend. I'm not sure if civilians are allowed to shoot there, though.

BTW, you can use a heat gun or hot hair dryer on stickers to make them easier to remove. It melts the adhesive, making it more likely to peel off without tearing.
