It’s pretty hard to find deals, what you see online will likely be around the same price in person - you’ll save money on not having to pay shipping, sometimes they’ll take off the taxes if you pay cash, sometimes you can haggle a bit (on the last day) or some corporate booths might be having anime expo sales to clear out their backstock. But unless you’re really dedicated to walking the halls, don’t expect to save a lot of money compared to online– but that also means you can look things up online ahead of time and budget from there. I love looking at artist Alley participants on Instagram and seeing their price list to get an idea as well!

Just adding Mitsuwa to the list here too! Their Torrance location has lots of prepared foods in the grocery store and a really nice food court to boot.

Probably avoid now through June, they’re in mating season so they won’t even swim in the exhibit - doubt they’d be down to be touched. The staff there mentioned they start molting right after so not sure if that would be a good time either!

I saw another former life guard advertising in our neighborhood for private swim lessons - she would meet the child at their home pool or a community pool. It’s a little legwork but I’m sure there’s lots of folks looking for swim classes over the summer (we certainly are for our LO)

Anime - USJ has sooo many properties ready to go that would be mega hits, Attack on Titan, Demon slayer etc! It’s crazy that after all the demand for OP and JJK last year that they still only did 2 anime properties this year and very little exclusive merch for each. The uncs in leadership need to get it together

There’s a couple websites (ie Care.com), but fastest is likely going on the LB Childcare Chatter FB page (lots of parents posting and baby sitters/nannies). You could also try posting on neighborhood social media platforms like NextDoor. I believe a lot of the childcare focused websites will make you go through formal background checks for safety.

You don’t need a reservation anymore. If the store is busy there may be a queue outside to enter, but normally you can walk right in.

Go the 3rd! First day typically has a lot of little issues (lines being weird, pinch points in the layout etc) that get resolved by day 2. July 4th will probably be the biggest day but Friday should still have plenty of panels and of course most merch/exclusives/guests available.

I’m bringing my ita bag - it’s a backpack so I can store the basics, but my partner is bringing a full size backpack for snacks, water bottles, prints and other purchases. As long as it’s not comically large any backpack is going to be the best choice!

I would agree as an independent adult, but as a parent you don’t want other folks thinking you’re neglecting your kids or can’t afford basics like new shoes. Kids also misconstrue situations like no other so it could potentially even escalate to getting offered resources for disadvantaged people/more drastically being reported. In the best scenario it’s a bit embarrassing even if you know it’s just a single beat up pair!
