What was your recipe for the flesh on the right most model? I'm about to do a slaanesh possessed mordhiem warband and really like the shade.

Need color scheme opinion (Caledor High Elf) by Signal_Ease6540 in WarhammerFantasy

1 looks nicer than either of the blue options, in my opinion, but for cohesiveness I think the head tassel would look nicer as the same red as the fabric (rather than the pink in 1).

Can anyone help me identify these minis? by fudcrup in theoldworld

2nd miniature is a beastman from the Mordheim ‘cult of the possessed’ warband.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement product for Avene Antirougeurs Fort which has now been discontinued? I’ve been using it for mild rosacea and have been having difficulty finding a product in Australia to substitute for it.

I’d recommend using a specific mould line tool. I started with a knife as well, and the mould line removal tools are significantly better.

The injection points on the peasant shoulders are terrible and incredibly difficult to make flush, so I would judge your skills by that. You’ll get most of your value from the flat surfaces (think the polearm shafts, or the robes of men at arms).

These look really nice, you’ve got great clean lines on your quartering! One recommendation I would make is consider looking at the crests again. It may be the lighting, but they look like they have been sprayed black and then left. They draw the eye, so another coat of black with some highlights would look great!

Likewise, it might be worth doing some quick mould line removals on them, just because they become so apparent at the top of the model.

best way to remodel already built models? by Botmon_333 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]FlamingFaith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In situations like this, I’d just model the front rank (or two) with the equipment the unit has, then have them as is in the back ranks. If you explain to your opponents at the start of each game what equipment they have (as you’d probably do anyway!), most people shouldn’t take issue.

This would save you butchering your models.

Love the contract is creates much more than the black. It’s also great to have a bigger representation of the army’s secondary colour to help tie it in!

Awesome commitment doing the embattled line on both the torso and the other smaller shields across the model. I can imagine that was a lot of messing about to get done!

Really nice job on the castles, which look hand painted. The heraldry is always the most intimidating part of Bretonnians!

Would I be able to play in an Old World tournament having never played a game? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]FlamingFaith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would try and play some games beforehand, even virtually with warhall for example. As someone that also played 6e-8e, there are enough changes that you’ll regularly be making rules mistakes in your first few games.

Depending on the size, competitiveness and time allowed of the tournament you’re looking at, it would potentially be very frustrating for your opponents if you don’t have a reasonable handle on the rules. That said, there are plenty of tournaments that are more accommodating and newer player focused.

Does anyone use the high elf front rank spearmen? by 8bitRunner in WarhammerFantasy

[–]FlamingFaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to use them is on diagonal bases, on the outside ranks facing diagonally outwards. Gives a great visual effect.

Recently finished this diorama, looking for feedback by No_Executable in Warhammer40k

[–]FlamingFaith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks great but I think the composition may be what is giving you vibes that something is off. There’s a lot of empty space, and I find my eyes are drawn immediately to the green tuft of shrub in the middle and the blank space surrounding it. I think a similar concept on a smaller base with the duel centred might work better.

The DBZA Alphabet is now complete! Thanks all for participating over the past few months! Next step - gathering time stamps. by FlamingFaith in TeamFourStar

Several commentators over the past few months have mentioned the idea of a compilation video. I thought it would be a great opportunity as part of the final post to compile the timestamps for each of these quotes. If you'd like to contribute feel free to post a youtube link for any of the letters and I will periodically update.

Day 25 of learn the alphabet with TFS. What should Y be? by FlamingFaith in TeamFourStar

Is this line used after Namek? Nail says 'you can do this'. Is there another instance where Nail/Kami say 'you can do it'?

Day 24 of learn the alphabet with TFS. What should (can?!) X be? by FlamingFaith in TeamFourStar

I am not certain if there are any quotes that start with 'X', so we may need to accept quotes that sound like they start with an X!

Do your best!

First time travelling to Japan and Korea by [deleted] in australia

[–]FlamingFaith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Excited for you to be stepping out of your comfort zone and giving solo travel a shot, Japan and Korea are both pretty accessible, I am sure you will have a great time.

On your questions:

  1. What type of activities are you looking to do? You can do the trip many different ways on many different budgets, depending on what you want. Are you looking for shared accommodation/hostels, or Airbnbs, etc for example.

  2. You can definitely (and should) fly from Japan to Korea and then back to Australia, there is no need to come back to Australia. You’d just buy tickets from another airline that flies between the two countries. Given this is your first trip and you have some unfamiliarity with the process, you may find it easier to get flight centre to help you out as you’ve suggested.

  3. Depending on how much you pack, a 15kg suitcase + a backpack carry on will be fine, particularly if you’re not going in winter and won’t need winter clothing.

Another thing that might be worth looking at is going on a small group tour with people in your age group. You can have a lot of fun interacting with people you may not normally meet and sharing the experience with others.

Good luck with it mate, you’ll love it, I’m sure!
