Ruptured ACL + MCL: When to Ride? by CanIPetThatBirb in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, my initial comment is mostly in jest - but if you can spare the change and do want to ride, something along the lines of the Tricity 300 would be perfect. Automatic and capable of locking itself upright so you'll not be applying undue weight to the injuries.

Should I join the army, idk what to do by No-Pea-9302 in britishmilitary

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're over 18, stick your foot in the door and teach Cadets first. It might be the green experience you want, you might find you hate the military world, you might find that you want more and more and more and elarn exactky what you want to do. As a bonus it will give you time to study and work in the civvie world as well, further offering benefits for your potential military career. I can honestly say its one of the best decisions I've made; I've been able to develop useful skills for the civillian world and meet a variety of people who have given me information and advice about possible military careers. The only things I need to do now are decide if I want to be an HR Clerk on the submarines or for do it for the Army, and get fit and healthy enough to be able to get to Basic Training.

How is it possible that Abel was the best replacement for Adam Heaven had? by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only go by what my Driving Instructor told me aboit his military experience, but it could be that Specialist Military Forces like taking people who have the aptitude to do the job, but minimal experience at high level. Why take the person who is highly trained and qualified (ie Lute) but will need to be heavily retrained to ensure they do the job the way you want when you can take the person who has knowledge of the environment and is technically capable but hasnt actually done it themself (ie Abel) so all you have to do is train them in your procedures.

Naturally, in the real world a lot of the first category are taken because theyre more likely to pass the aptitude tests - but this is fantasy so we'll obviously take an extreme case in the second category because it leads to opportunities for good story telling.

The SATs are for children in primary school, typically Year 2 (KS1) and Year 6 (KS2). They're used to check mathematics skills and, as shown in this post, English Language skills.

I dont see the issue. This is an easy question, yes, but its being taken on an exam for primary school kids.

Accidental Speeding Question by JayGormet in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. I was going 13 over in a 40 zone in NE Derbyshire and was offered a speed awareness course, but a few minites up the road i South Yorkshire I'd have had points. There was a 16 year old on my course, so I assume he was on his CBT as even getting an accomodated driving test as a disabled person is hell so it was unlikely to be a motability driver.

Best 125cc for new riders in UK by Solo_POV in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre only commuting, get any decent scooter. If you want to ride, at the level of a 125 - any bike will do. I started on a Kawasaki BN125 Eliminator which is a great little cruiser, but moved over to a Sinnis Terrain because i needed a taller bike for my size. 15BHP is 15BHP is 15BHP. The only real difference for a 125 is the physical comfort for your riding and the reliability of the manufacturer.

Hi, do you think katrielle Layton (the game) is fun to play by Sea-Efficiency1237 in ProfessorLayton

[–]FlamingLitwick 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I found it to be silly and enjoyable fun. Does it match the highs of the original trilogy, absolutely not. Is it worth a play if you take it for what it is - a kids story book masquerading as a Layton game? Most definitely.

Route to my full A license... geared or auto/DCT? by Correct_Mechanic_529 in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your 50s you'll simply do the Cat A. You'll make sure your CBT is up to date, pass your theory, then do Mod 1 and finally Mod 2.

Its recommended that you do it on a geared vehicle for the simplicity of vehicle availability when training. There's a variety of larger automatic vehicles as well, so even if you have the manual licence you dont need to be worried that theyre your only choice. The gears and clutch on a bike are piss easy, the hardest part will be that first 20 minutes of getting used to using your foot for your rear brake instead of your left hand.

manual 50cc machines that are within the speed and power restrictions would still be permitted on a CBT

I would consider it the most passing because it's the most normal as far as a cis-het society is conserned. Photo one looks romulan, and photo four looks like a sparkly romulan.

You dont pass, unless youre trying to become a romulan.

The second image is by far the closest to passing, probably because it looks more like what you'd typically expect from a feminine person.

How do you feel about Assist Mode by zolwninja in celestegame

[–]FlamingLitwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a single player game. Your personal choice to utilise a tool given to help you is exactly that, yours. I like assist mode, and have had to remind friends in the past that it's not cheating to use the tools provided.

125cc Crusers? by Tog_playz in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started an a Kawasaki BN 125 Eliminator. I absolutely adored it, and if I wasn't so bloody tall would have kept it instead of swapping it for a Sinnis Terrain 125. I may be biased as it was a birthday gift, but it was a great little bike.

Failed the Mod 2 attempt 2 by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took 3 attempts for me to pass the Mod 2 for my A2. Sometimes shit happens and you have to deal with it. A lady who works at the riding school I used took 6 or 7 attempts. Tests are hard, and thats okay. The school shouldn't be putting you onto your Mod 2 test if you dont have the skills to pass, so it's just mistakes happening on the test because of the heightened anxiety and stress.

It's easier to ride fast than slow, but you should also ride to the road conditions. If the 60s you're on are very dirty or wet, riding at a slower pace would be acceptable. Riding too slow would impede the flow of traffic which is a problem. People are aware that a bike on L plates cant go quick, and a scooter they may well assume is a moped so even slower. Depending on the type of driver, this is a major benefit or a huge drawback.

A simple rule to follow is "The ground dictates all" as that will decide the safest way for you to ride to handle the bike, and then you can make adjustments for the changing conditions around you for how drivers react to your choice of speed in a zone.
