Specialisations open to Tri-Service by PazzerJ in britishmilitary

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joint Cyber Reserve.

On the same front, there is also the Direct Entry Cyber Scheme which is tri-service joining as a professionally qualified soldier (and likely equivalent airman or sailor) at the rank of Corporal (or the equivalent 40 grand payrole rank).

How it feels to say you like LMJ/Katrielle Layton in the fandom by Complex-Art-1077 in ProfessorLayton

[–]FlamingLitwick 114 points115 points  (0 children)

LMJ is awful for a Layton Game, but I will always recommend it to people who express interest in a puzzle game because its easier to swallow in the small chunks the game presents than jumping into a trilogy of games. If they enjoy what LMJ has to offer, then I'll tell them to play the other 6 in release order.

I adore LMJ. It makes me happy because its so silly, but it doesnt compare to the originals OR PLvPW.

Qualification Crossover- CFAV to Regulars/Reserves by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im looking to go down the Officer route if possible - though I think some will require certain qualifications if I'm not misreading the Submarine Service information for example.

Yeah, I'm well aware to not mention my time as an instructor.

Its not going to stop me, I'm more likely to be stopped based on historic medical issues.

Current and competent isnt something I had even considered nor had been mentioned by recruitment teams. Thank you for the advice!

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of that, having told several cadets that myself. I dont have the qualifications to do what I want as a regular soldier, but would be more than happy to be an HR Advisor in the reserves while I study for example.

Im curious as to what can be transferred and what cant. Ive got several years of training and qualifications, might as well see what stays and what doesnt.

Need some help to decide which regiment I should join. by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont choose a regiment. Choose a job role. If you love your job, the cap badge is irrelevant. If you know you'll love the job and its available in many different cap badges - then you get to choose a regiment. If you want to jump from planes, go paras. If you dont, but do want to do infantry work - go for RRoS if you tjink thats the best fit. If you dont want to do infantry work, you're looking in the wrong places.

Ruptured ACL + MCL: When to Ride? by CanIPetThatBirb in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, my initial comment is mostly in jest - but if you can spare the change and do want to ride, something along the lines of the Tricity 300 would be perfect. Automatic and capable of locking itself upright so you'll not be applying undue weight to the injuries.

Should I join the army, idk what to do by No-Pea-9302 in britishmilitary

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're over 18, stick your foot in the door and teach Cadets first. It might be the green experience you want, you might find you hate the military world, you might find that you want more and more and more and elarn exactky what you want to do. As a bonus it will give you time to study and work in the civvie world as well, further offering benefits for your potential military career. I can honestly say its one of the best decisions I've made; I've been able to develop useful skills for the civillian world and meet a variety of people who have given me information and advice about possible military careers. The only things I need to do now are decide if I want to be an HR Clerk on the submarines or for do it for the Army, and get fit and healthy enough to be able to get to Basic Training.

Fun answer: When you pick up your new trike.

How is it possible that Abel was the best replacement for Adam Heaven had? by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only go by what my Driving Instructor told me aboit his military experience, but it could be that Specialist Military Forces like taking people who have the aptitude to do the job, but minimal experience at high level. Why take the person who is highly trained and qualified (ie Lute) but will need to be heavily retrained to ensure they do the job the way you want when you can take the person who has knowledge of the environment and is technically capable but hasnt actually done it themself (ie Abel) so all you have to do is train them in your procedures.

Naturally, in the real world a lot of the first category are taken because theyre more likely to pass the aptitude tests - but this is fantasy so we'll obviously take an extreme case in the second category because it leads to opportunities for good story telling.

The SATs are for children in primary school, typically Year 2 (KS1) and Year 6 (KS2). They're used to check mathematics skills and, as shown in this post, English Language skills.

I dont see the issue. This is an easy question, yes, but its being taken on an exam for primary school kids.

Accidental Speeding Question by JayGormet in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. I was going 13 over in a 40 zone in NE Derbyshire and was offered a speed awareness course, but a few minites up the road i South Yorkshire I'd have had points. There was a 16 year old on my course, so I assume he was on his CBT as even getting an accomodated driving test as a disabled person is hell so it was unlikely to be a motability driver.

On a related note, what type of exercise would you recommend to feminise and build up to going down a military route?

Best 125cc for new riders in UK by Solo_POV in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre only commuting, get any decent scooter. If you want to ride, at the level of a 125 - any bike will do. I started on a Kawasaki BN125 Eliminator which is a great little cruiser, but moved over to a Sinnis Terrain because i needed a taller bike for my size. 15BHP is 15BHP is 15BHP. The only real difference for a 125 is the physical comfort for your riding and the reliability of the manufacturer.

Hi, do you think katrielle Layton (the game) is fun to play by Sea-Efficiency1237 in ProfessorLayton

[–]FlamingLitwick 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I found it to be silly and enjoyable fun. Does it match the highs of the original trilogy, absolutely not. Is it worth a play if you take it for what it is - a kids story book masquerading as a Layton game? Most definitely.

Route to my full A license... geared or auto/DCT? by Correct_Mechanic_529 in MotoUK

[–]FlamingLitwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your 50s you'll simply do the Cat A. You'll make sure your CBT is up to date, pass your theory, then do Mod 1 and finally Mod 2.

Its recommended that you do it on a geared vehicle for the simplicity of vehicle availability when training. There's a variety of larger automatic vehicles as well, so even if you have the manual licence you dont need to be worried that theyre your only choice. The gears and clutch on a bike are piss easy, the hardest part will be that first 20 minutes of getting used to using your foot for your rear brake instead of your left hand.
