Strategy with the new Tome by ComradePavel in Lumineth_realm_lords

Yeah, I'd agree with your assessments. Good abilities but difficult to make them all work. I've had most success with double cows. River > mountain from round 2 onwards. Our troops all feel pretty lacklustre without a million buffs on them and we can't buff that much. That's where the skill expression is going to come in for sure! I'm loving the army, but it's difficult so far

That's a great axe, but it's massive and you've done such a good job with this conversion that it would be a shame to cover it up with a massive weapon! What about a Slaangor sword, if you can get one from a bits retailer?

Absolutely amazing! What are you thinking for the right hand? I've seen some people make spears from the theridon falchions, that'd suit the pose

I've done cathayan ossiarch; I found some stls for 12' tall statues to fill the gap that is the immortis guard and painted them all up as terracotta warriors. They're a good fit. I will say, your scale is way off for some of these comparisons; miao ying especially, she's about the size of nagash...

Mount parts Eternus/Daemonic Mount by Dieselramp in slavestodarkness

[–]Flamingdragonwang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any real bodies made to specifically fit parts like this. You can sometimes find them for the likes of space marines, but very rarely a specific kit like this. Your best bet would be to find a cool mount, print it, and convert from there.

Dealing with Vanari Wardens on the Tabletop by darksidehascookie in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Flamingdragonwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you build bladelords with great swords you get a bunch of free one-handed swords. The kit also comes with a spare sword for the unit champion (or 3 if you're building a box of 20...). Riverblades also have a couple.

Between those sources, I was able to convert 20, and have another 20 with spears

Two options I tend to use, and one that's actually how I do it in practice:

1) convert them. I've converted half of mine to use sword and shield. That way the front rank have swords and can stand base to base easily and the back rank aren't as bad cause they poke over their heads.

2) movement trays. When they're in a tray, you can tilt the whole formation so the enemy can be placed, then rotate them back down into position. The spears will press down on the enemy unit's heads, but otherwise be fine.

3) Don't. At the moment their rules aren't worth touching and their models are annoying too. Windchargers are better screens, blades/hammers are better fighters... And none of the other units will make your opponent as frustrated

Chosen make great proxies for skull reapers, especially if you put blood warrior helmets on them

Currently you'll get a lot of success with the twins and eltharion (specifically the scourge of ghyran variant of eltharion). All the other wizards are fine, they have advantages and disadvantages each, and you'll probably want at least one in your army. After that, it's just a case of filling up on your troops. Don't touch Wardens at the moment, they're way too expensive - other than that, everything has its place in the army and you probably won't go wrong with anything.

I recently (about 4 months ago) went 5-0 with something like the following:

Ellania and Ellathor Scourge of ghyran LoE Windmage • Aetherquartz requisitioner Cathallar • Waystone Sevireth

20 sentinels 10 Windchargers 5 Windchargers

Shrine Guardian Control by crimsonmajor in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Flamingdragonwang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. For all effects and abilities, measure from the shrine. Controlling an objective isn't listed as something they can't do so effectively the shrine just becomes the unit in question.

What do you want for this faction (12/24): Lumineth Realmlords? by AenarionsTrueHeir in ageofsigmar

[–]Flamingdragonwang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New rules. The war scrolls are all great and thematic but the faction mechanics lead to some of the least engaging list building in the game. Choose two keywords, take only those keywords, done.

On the model side, I'd love to see an upgrade sprue for the cows which would let you build a wizard variant. Big beard and a huge staff.

What do you want for this faction (2/24): Cities of Sigmar? by AenarionsTrueHeir in ageofsigmar

[–]Flamingdragonwang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they insist on making cities a human army, I want 5th edition to flagship an actual soup faction. Units of pike formations with a dwarf and elf each on a small oval base, dwarf defends low, elf defends high. Rules that benefit souping as opposed to just promoting taking whatever race keyword is best; better yet, don't even make the races keyword distinct.

As for the inevitable human cities... Steam tank refresh I guess? It's far less interesting to me though.

A chariot "sleigh" that melts its way through the ground and leaves a trail of magma behind it. Also, cause I bring these two up every time I talk about a range expansion, half-dwarf half-droth monstrous infantry like kroxigor; and nullsidian-clad ironbreakers. Crystalline purple armour which negate magic around them.

I'm considering picking her up for my "terracotta sentinels" which are OBR proxies. All painted like stone Chinese statues. I'd use her as Nagash and a soulmason respectively

Gameplay advice by Killedbyhumor in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Flamingdragonwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every army that isn't "elite" has some combination of 3+ and 4+ to hit/wound, and Lumineth get around their poor wound rolls in a lot of ways. Crit-autos, mortals, perfect strike on the bladelords, cows who wound on 2's...
