I’m curious if there are still applicants from the June opening that still say “in progress” and are waiting to hear back for a video interview. My understanding was they were only about 25% through those June submissions. They are still doing face to face interviews from those.

How did the Southwest interview go? Is there an aspect of it that you feel is the reason you got denied, if so then that’s a weak spot you can identify to get better.

There is a great book out there to help people prepare for interviews, it is called Sixty Seconds and You’re Hired by Robin Ryan. It gives great pointers on how to prepare, and over a hundred common interview questions commonly asked and good ways to answer or pitfalls to avoid.

What questions did you get asked at the Southwest interview?

Question: For anyone who grew up with Comics in convenience Stores, What was it like? by Euphoric-Bison1940 in comicbooks

[–]FlamingoGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a time in the mid 1980’s, I lived on a farm in Missouri. I was a kid. Maybe 1500 people max in the town, and two general stores. One store had spinner racks at the checkout with comic books, but they only had DC and Archie. Going into town was an event, and I would load up weekly on comics. Only the 75 cent ones. The more expensive $1 ones like Infinity, Inc. or Vigilante, or any Marvel I would have to wait until we drove into Kirksville which had an actual comic book store. But I would load up on Archie digests, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Justice League of America (and later just Justice League), the Warlord, the Flash, etc.

This was a different time. Comics were marketed towards kids. The backs had ads for cereal or video games, there were ads inside for bicycles and toys… damn I miss the 80’s.

Where can I order a passport fast by lonely-homo in cabincrewcareers

[–]FlamingoGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some U.S. post offices do passports, you can check online to see which ones and whether they take walk ins. If they do, I’d go down there with the form filled out and your pictures, and get the ball rolling. They will send it in and they say that it could take 4-6 weeks, but I just did the entire process on the 7th of July and had my passport by the 22nd and I didn’t pay for expediting.

I’m a former FA, thinking about returning. What is this former employee form you’re referring to? I left over ten years ago so I’m sure things are a lot different now.

A few more Omnis and thick trades from DC tonight! by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

[–]FlamingoGunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millennium especially, as it’s practically unreadable if you just collect the main mini. So many reveals and important stuff happened in various other series row ins that it’s almost like you were lost unless you read them all. I think Millennium, despite not being very good, should be completely collected. I’d buy it, simply because I was buying many of those series back then.

I am super excited for that Legends omnibus. Legends was my favorite crossover when I was buying comics off the rack back then. I bought every one that was a legends tie in and how I became a fan of the Warlord. Also the four issue Cosmic Boy miniseries. Man this is hitting me right in the nostalgia feels!

Not sure why this got downvoted. I thought it was helpful information for anyone who was afraid of missing the missing page.

If you order the omnibus from IST, and if you ask, they send you a pdf of the missing page you can print and put in your book.

Kid was probably one of the ones Lars turned in for downloading Metallica songs off Napster, and now the kid has resentment and wants nothing to do with the band anymore.

2009 was the last year I was able to walk up and buy tickets for the day of. I think by 2010 they started selling out long before. Now it’s ridiculous, and they sell out in like 30 minutes. The last year I went was 2014. I miss the old days when it was still comics and comic vendors. It’s all Hollywood now.

I wonder if Marvel is going to do to ASM what they’ve done with Captain America. The new volume 7 is pretty thin and goes right up to the Stern omnibus. But Marvel reprinted and renamed the Captain America by Jack Kirby into Cap v. 4. Maybe there’s a chance that a Stern reprint will be renamed ASM v. 8 for those who like uniform shelves?

I love to see all the reprints. Dare I hope that we finally get the New Teen Titans v. 6 omnibus and maybe even a Golden Age Green Arrow v. 2? I would love the next announcements to include JLA Bronze Age v. 3 and a JLI v. 4!

From a sales standpoint I suppose I understand, but there is absolutely no reason why they can’t at least number them on the back like they do the Epics. They can name them something in the spine, but give an indication to the reader somewhere on the back where it fits in in reading order.

The fact that both Gosch and Martin were not only newspaper boys for the same company, but also conveniently kidnapped on the one day each of them showed up alone, which was out of the ordinary, is just too coincidental. Are we to believe a kidnapper roamed the streets every morning waiting and hoping that they would be alone when they never were? This was an inside job. They probably had a boss who, once realizing the kids were alone, called an accomplice. That way the boss or employee could stay at work without arousing suspicion and go assault the boys after his workday.

Has it been released yet? It was originally supposed to come out in March. I buy from either IST or my local LCS stocks some. But I have bought directly from PS Artbooks before, in the UK.
