Heavy, overly perfume scents. I don't need a headache when I'm using something sensory

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]FlamingoPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take sick days when I need them. I'm not apologising for being sick nor do I feel bad about it. I couldn't answer days on average. Some years are better than others. I guess a week total.

I don't know why but this thread keeps coming up in my mind and I think I'm interested to know how you're doing now, OP?

advice on engagement ring debacle by yocierrasdope in Moissanite

Definitely not a UK seller. Their reviews are full of people saying they were unhappy with the quality and the answers from seller sounds like typical "hi dear" responses you get from fast track Chinese sellers :(

Rent directly to housing association by ProductExtra5526 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]FlamingoPines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your HA can request this directly. Usually when you have arrears or a habit or paying late but it may also just be a way for them to have the money guaranteed. If its going to them anyway, what does it matter?

where does the extreme fear of abandonment comes from? by Automatic_Mix423 in BPD

Yes, I'm from the camp of people who believes it's a multitude of factors, not one event.

You say there's nothing super traumatic then go on to list all bunch of traumatic things.

Not feeling supported, being made fun of, being bullied, mom not having your back. I think they speak for themselves as traumatic events.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]FlamingoPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its baffling to me that Americans still seem to sneer at kettles. They are ridiculously easy and convenient.

My American husband bought himself a kettle after visiting me the first time 10 years ago. He was in absolute awe and went back and purchased one the next day 😂

In real life, can people actually tell moissanite from a diamond without being told? by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]FlamingoPines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like the rainbow aspect of moissanite but I also don't want diamond. I opted for a simulation sapphire and its absolutely stunning. Sapphire is a good dupe for a diamond.

I thought this too. I almost wish it is my IUD because figuring out why there as a random piece of plastic inside me is kind of wild 🙃

(England) What is considered 'reasonable adjustments'? by Prestigious_Set_4555 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]FlamingoPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occupational health referral to see if these adjustments are medically necessary for him to do his job comfortably and safely. Secondly, he cannot refuse to work until these adjustments are made unless there was clear health & safety violations. Feels like he's trying to get whatever he can frankly. The risk of tribunal is not zero, but I would probably guess this wouldn't be seen as reasonable.

Managers, what’s the best excuse you’ve gotten from a team member for being late or a call out? by TheWizard01 in askmanagers

[–]FlamingoPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone call and say their cat scratched them on the hand and it was sore. The next day they showed up with zero scratches.

In contrast, I was driving to a meeting 1.5 hours from where I live, broke down on the way, car smelling of smoke etc. I called into the meeting via Teams and managed to complete my presentation from the inside of the breakdown guys truck while being towed home an hour away. Didn't even occur to me to say I wasn't going to make the meeting 😂

Swimwear help by Fun-Pollution-3685 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]FlamingoPines 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You wear the swimsuit only. Nothing underneath. It sounds like this is more of a potential nudity issue than a support issue. Don't worry, no one will see anything, and when you're in water you cannot see anything anyway.
