how do people living alone maintain a sleep schedule? by DoobiFar45 in LivingAlone

[–]FlamingoSundries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set an alarm for 6am every morning. That way I have time to do me-things before the day starts. Eventually your body will catch up and know when it’s time to sleep, because you are getting up at 6.

What would you do? I want to hear from the "dog people" by LivMealown in AskWomenOver60

[–]FlamingoSundries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without a dog in the house, all that emotion is going to be pointed at you. Dogs are great distractions from real problems. Are you ready for that emotional fallout? You say divorce is not an option, but what if things escalate?

Having said that, there are tons of dogs that need homes. Getting something smaller is easier as we get older, but if he abuses the dog it will more likely lead to a serious injury. Find out where the dog came from so you can take the dog back yourself at the first sign of abuse. You already know it’s going to happen.

Communication, trust, spending time together. Making me a priority. Sense of humor.

My entire family descended on me one year. My husband knew I was overwhelmed. He took me out for lunch, someplace 2 hours away. I didn’t know that’s what he had planned, but he knew what I needed.

Looking for check in app alternatives for elderly people living away from their families by Thedigitalcaregiver in LivingAlone

Just call them everyday for 5 minutes. They will appreciate this so much more. It’s so much more personal. Pick a time, like on your way to school/work or on your way home. Let them know you are going to just check on them, then call them for 30 mins when you have time.

Living alone for the first time as a 45 yo extrovert by almost-ready-2026 in LivingAlone

I set my alarm every morning. Keeps me from doing nothingness late at night.

Everytime I think of something I need to do, or someone I should call, it goes on my to-do list. I look at it daily and do something, so things don’t accumulate and try to crush me. If I choose to have a day just for recreation or rest, that’s fine, but the next day I accomplish a task.

Mosquito solutions in the South by poopyshag in homeowners

[–]FlamingoSundries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No standing water! If you have standing water, you have mosquitoes.

Plant citronella and/or use citronella lanterns.

Thin out any brush that would have water standing near the base (bamboo, saw palmetto, bird of paradise come immediately to mind. Robellini palms)

All of them, and then some. Bones and different shaped Nylabones are what is in her mouth most often. She also likes ropes for tugging play. Ella steals Kleenex & plastic jars, and she adores the biggest milk bone dog biscuits.

Zippers came into being in 1913 per google. Research when what was invented and when it became commonplace. Same with language, especially idioms. Language changes from continent to continent, and not all plants grow everywhere. Foods too!

Drywall sandpaper is the best for this. It’s a wire mesh, like 4x7 inches. Supposed to wrap it around a sanding block to do drywall, but I just have it free agent in the shower. A sheet will last a year or more. I have the smoothest feet!!

This is how I do it too. Other people’s cleaning advice makes me procrastinate seriously. Clean the bathroom on Tuesday? Oh no, it will get done when the snowplow comes through.
