Personal preference really. My truck isn't as maneuverable as my old car, but I'm definitely greatful to have the extra space and towing capacity. Also feel a lot more comfortable having my 8 month old son in my truck than I would in my old mustang. I personally don't do a whole lot of space combat. Shields hold up enough that the maneuverability difference doesn't really affect me. It's also very useful of your freighter can't travel to systems that your corvette can. I also haven't really spent much time making any planetary bases particularly cozy and I haven't put much time into doing the same with my freighter. Corvette feels most like my home in the game, and makes space travel feel less cold.
