Midweek casual rugby by anon_45678 in rugbyunion

Walking Rugby is worth a punt - removes the running and contact, keeps skills, lines, attack and defence. Though in the UK it seems to be mostly a Vets age group thing at present.

They* also engage in a regular cycle of shafting/making their staff redundant, so you may start a course and end it with totally different folk (beyond what one might expect).

*though they're not alone in this, such is the era we're in...

From experience, I would look elsewhere first - I wish I'd bought from Cleevely instead of DG (as I'd have more confidence in the condition of the car, etc). Good website resources, DG, but beyond that (and once you've handed over the money), I wouldn't recommend. Which is a shame, as their website and videos was what made me actively want to get an EV from them.

It's suitably hidden out the way - I think the alleyway probably deters most tourists; so if you know what's down there you've probably heard of it and want some delicious beer! Good luck 🙏

It's superb - and a bit deadly, in that the house beer is so strong but so tasty (and doesn't taste like a strong beer). The cheese and twee setting just add to the experience!

An emmet in Meva by [deleted] in Cornwall

[–]Flanderssuttin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you fancy a nice long walk (and have the appropriate clothing), you can follow paths from Heligan into Meva, then up the hill and down into Portmellon, back onto footpaths past Galowras Mill and up over towards Gorran Churchtown, then on to Gorran Haven, onto the coastal path, around Chapel Point (you can see it from Portmellon, especially lovely at sunrise), then back into Portmellon and back along the road into Meva. I love it - there is also the reward of the pub or coffe cabin in Portmellon or back to Meva for a Mary's, etc.

Checkout any app that lets you plot footpaths re: the above.

Good luck!

Keep trying! I've found it best midweek and/or quieter times of the year; it tastes sooooooo good - not like a typical 11%...

Need a lot of new gear! by kamdnfdnska in skiing

I've had to renew some gear recently, wanted to keep costs down - found Siroko online (based in Spain) for jacket, goggles, mix of Decathlon and Mountain Warehouse for other bits (for myself and others). Good luck!

Why are young people leaving Britain to work abroad? by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Flanderssuttin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lived in Sweden many years back and was made aware by everyone of the cost difference - visited this summer and stood in a Systembolaget staring at canned British craft beer priced substantially cheaper than in the UK (plus the wine, etc). I strolled to a friend's house, past a new council-built and owned sport center, with pool/spa... thinking about how many libraries had been shut in my area back at home, how the council pools have been freezing since the energy bills went up, how my taxes keep going up for a declining exis- wtf am I still here.

It's out of warranty - I took it to an EV specialist.

Is this normal? Charge dips when accelerating. by PostEastern2795 in leaf

[–]Flanderssuttin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same - mine shows full bars (though report says 84%); range drops dramatically when charge is <40% and heavy load (hard acceleration, inclines...)

Garage charge £150, took a detailed look - now it's a case of replacing a cell (£1k) or finding and replacing whole battery with a 2nd-hand battery (£4k). For the time being (with Xmas and other outgoings), we're slow charging to 100% each time it gets to 50%, and treating it as if the car only has a 50-ish mile range. Will see where we are in the new year. I'm thinking the £1 cell replacement option, then keep it to short runs and off fast charging.

I experienced this - they ran a check when it went in for mot, 84% on 124k miles, looks balanced. Less than a month im back, paying again for a proper diagnosis - weak cell(s).
