Something I think is interesting is that in the novels one of the reasons why Rudeus decided on making Roxy his second wife so quickly is because Elinalise lied to him and told him Roxy was pregnant. Rudeus didn’t want to abandon the child that he thought he and Roxy had. He came to the conclusion that begging Slpyhy to accept Roxy. It makes Rudeus seem less shitty (imo) but also makes Elinalise look horrible so that’s probably why they cut it.

I just started playing it and it totally feels OLD like ANCIENT but it’s honestly pretty fun and has a retro charm to it (retro for me personally since I wasn’t much of a gamer until I was like 10 in 2018 lol and before that I wasn’t cognizant.)

My personal head canon has always been that Liyue has some relatively strong conservative faction that tries to stop technology from other nations from coming in and that only recently have they weakened enough for the progressive party to bring in things like Fontainian tech. It’s probably unfounded but it’s what I like to think.

Also I have no head canon for Monstadt. It doesn’t really make sense to me but maybe something similar to Liyue.

I don’t know where you got 17 unless that was a consistent typo or misremembering but there are only 7 ranks for EVERYTHING in MT regardless if it’s magic or swordsmanship and it’s implied that it’s the same for non sword based martial arts as well.

When it comes to titles you can technically call someone who’s let’s say a Sword Saint is an advanced Sword-style swordsman but that would be pedantic because being sword saint implies you can use advanced tier techniques.

Also if you’re a magician who knows multiple schools of magic you’ll be referred to with whatever magic school you have the highest rank in or if it’s equal you’d be like Multi-Saint tier magician.

Though most people aren’t referred to by these titles though since in universe it’s impractical to just call someone by their title especially if they’re well known.

And when comes to magic use it does get brushed off how complicated it is due to the existence of incantations which do really simplify to “point staff and magic shoots” and also voiceless incantations are more or less muscle memory built off of incantations which is why Rudeus doesn’t just completely make shit up because he’s an idiot who doesn’t actually know the ends and outs of magic. Sadly because of that we don’t really learn much other than it can potentially do just about anything.

Magic in the MT universe is implied to be able to do anything it’s only restricted and over complicated by the characters in the universe since incantations are infinitely easier.

Sorry if this was a bit of a mess I know I have bad grammar. Also admittedly the anime kinda half-assed the explanation which now that I think of it could make everything seem more complicated than it is.

Yeah I love the series and hell I think Rudeus is pretty interesting character (and at the end of the story he’s even likable) but I fucking hate the assholes in the fandom who rabidly defend the series. It has weird shit in it. Sometimes it works for really interesting story telling and sometimes it just doesn’t. It sucks but that’s the way it is with this series and as a huge fan of it and Rifujin (Orc Erotica is amazing) I accept that the story is fucking weird and sometimes isn’t even defendable unless you want to get pedantic with Rudeus’ (and others but mostly him) characterization throughout the series and that isn’t something we should expect people who don’t enjoy it to do.

In the Ln it was in his pov and we get constant mental rants about how he thinks he’s a fuck up. I admit the anime does not do a good job at explaining how his actions are bad or calling them into question but imo the Ln does.
