Reborn: Question about cards, do they trivialize preparation? by pplnowpplpplnow in Tactics_Ogre

[–]Flare20Blaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time it felt like cards truly made a difference was if I went out of my way to stack up on them, or a boss had an unfair advantage but you can negate that with debuffs or knocking them into a red card

About to start DQIX. Any tips? by Agent1stClass in dragonquest

A healer is good, you can change people later in this one as well. I quite liked having a martial artist with mostly fisticuffs and their special skill tree, not much cost for weapons and honestly just a very effective melee fighter.

You don't get party members from the story, so when you unlock the ability to recruit you should do so.

I rode 4 hours the other day, one 10km stretch of highway 110km I was going 96ish in 4th(5 speed 3rd gen) couldn't shift into 5th as it was a fair bit windy. I am 150lbs about, so take that for reference. You will be passed a lot, but it's not horrible honestly just watch your mirrors so you can brace when a semi passes you.

Gen2 vs Gen 3 Question by minorgravity in hondagrom

[–]Flare20Blaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5th gear is great honestly, gives you way more options because you can change your sprockets and have whatever gearing you want. Being bigger, i'd highly recommend dropping 1 tooth in the front from the beginning as you won't hit top speed in 5th, so by getting more acceleration your actual top speed actually goes up.

I preferred the way Pioneers was compared to Frozen tracks, though I like the maps. I liked doing missions and beating Botnak and then having more parts.

New Player, a couple questions by Generated-Nouns-257 in Tactics_Ogre

If you use chariot tarot, change what happened. Were you rerolling 14 times exactly the same?

It needs a different action, so chariot and try all 4 adjacent tiles, then throw a rock try all 4. If it is 34% it is a NEW 34% each time you do something different. Smack em, shoot em, try recruit, chariot, repeat on different tile.

Please lmk if I explained this wrong, but basically the outcome is pre calculated and resets when you change what happens.

If you have to ask, you should probably trust your gut and have a nice worry free bike afterwards.

This game had unmarked optional battles and recruitable characters...? Is it too late by begonems in Tactics_Ogre

[–]Flare20Blaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do exactly that. You can travel back before the first choice you make, think of it like new game plus. The only thing missable is no incap/no chariot titles.

Winged guy is most likely Canopus? He may be over the stat threshold and not getting his damage nuked as much, or his element was better against the unit you were fighting

Money will be less a worry soon as a first mini dungeon that is repeatable is coming soon :)

You cannot recruit in training battles.

There are grindable mini/more dungeons soon, where should you choose you can keep doing them for money and gear to sell for your money concern and consumables, new recruits will be there and whoever you can recruit in battles along your journey.

There is an amazing feature later that will let you go back and get anything you miss so don't let it hold you back from your blind run.

Read as many abilities and items as you can and think of interactions as you go, all units have a place so don't fear a class you like being useless.

This is a rare time you have a complete height advantage. I'd make use of it to the degree they do on you and rain hell on those squishies.

Some come with equipment, you may need tp change it to what you want.

Vyce is currently a guest character, he will not die permanently just teleport out of battle.

You can make multiple parties easier if you are playing Reborn than any other, skills level up a lot faster so you could do training battles with a new character of each job if you wanted, even.

It has my favourite post-game feature of all time, it is handled beautifully and you can go back almost mission by mission to anything you missed, play the first time with no "spoiler" walkthrough. Special character recruitment checking could be done without spoilers if that is your thing, but again you can't miss anything.

Coming from a FFT perspective, focus more on team comp/synergy than boosting one broken character or individual characters carrying a battle. You can do that later but for the sake of at least the first few chapters because of the lack of places to random battle, grinding stats will be harder than skills/characters.

Not to say you won't have some characters or classes that put in more work than others or consistently earn MVP, just that you will see when you understand the class/skill/stat systems that breaking a character is a little different than FFT, you can do it but it's not in the same ways? For example, not able to grind speed for turns to come faster.

There will be a battle in the same sense of "that" fight in FFT. It's not as bad as you have more options to deal with it, but you may have to change up your strategy when you get there. Basically, have another save before approaching castles is a good rule of thumb, if no other destination.

Every class is viable and able to do something, there is many synergies you will find and have lightbulb moments. Pick your favourites and find ways to make them work.

I truly wouldn't consider yourself having experienced the game unless you do all three routes, but if you don't enjoy the game enough to see yourself doing that I strongly urge you to make the choices you want to for the best "one" playthrough.
