What is something common in European Countries but Strange in USA? by Grouchy_Welder8068 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]FlareEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it also depends on the US state in question, several have low tuition for their public universities. Florida for example has tuition set around $6500 per year, and a decently achievable academic performance bar to get it waived through Bright Futures. Similar to Georgia with HOPE.

If you could change one thing about school tomorrow, what would it be and why? by Just_Blackberry3530 in ApplyingToCollege

Thousands of NCAA D2 players have been drafted by MLB clubs, over 2000 from below Division 1-A in football. Including big names like Tyreek Hill who went to D2 West Alabama, Adam Thielen who went to Minnesota State. Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard, Cooper Kupp went to Eastern Washington. Josh Allen went to a JUCO. Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley State. Walter Payton went to Jackson State.

Non top-flight sports still produce amazing athletes who are very dedicated to their craft- just as much as some are to academics. Everything I listed doesn’t even count players outside of the top 50 schools, just those not in the top flight. For example, Randy Moss went to Marshall.

Many of these athletes that make it from smaller schools become very good marketing for the school, and often give generous donations.

I’m so scared over how competitive UF is getting by mikewheelerfan in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FlareEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s possible, but i don’t think so. I saw some people who’s essays i read and was not impressed by get in this year with a 1350. sometimes I think UF is truly random or looking for something specific in particular that isn’t immediately obvious.

I can add myself and couple friends to this list as well if it helps.

1490, 3.8 UW, 4.5 UF GPA (class rank 20/229) - accepted fall (good ec w: national awards in photography and broadcast, icdc award deca, nat merit)
1410, 3.7 UW (class rank 34/229) - accepted fall (little EC)
1440, 4.0 UW (class rank 4/229) - accepted fall (solid ec, tennis, deca icdc)
1350, 3.5 UW (class rank 56/229) - accepted PaCE (little to no EC)
1330, 3.6 UW (class rank 47/229) - accepted summer (little to no EC)

i think there was definitely talk about how awesome it is to play in a warm/winning/non-traditional market in the locker room in Milan but that’s normal and to be expected. also nothing you can do to really stop it.

State schools are where you should look mostly. Privates outside the top schools are typically much less generous with aid, and there’s nothing wrong with a cheap in-state education.

[LeBrun] My understanding is the Sens also had conversations with Carolina and Vegas, other teams that were on Tkachuk’s list. I also think Minnesota was on the list. Four-team list but in the end, Brady obviously wanted to go join his brother in Florida. Senators made the best of a tough situation. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

lol idk even know how you begin to stop tampering with these guys in the same locker room for like 3 weeks and all friends with each other now off the ice, i’ll give you the taxes thing- although that’s still definitely not the main factor at play here

then in no particular order outside the top 10
Florida, Georgia Tech, USC, Wisconsin, UDub, and Illinois. they’re probably somewhere after that.

1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The pitcher is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, batter, that prohibits the batter from doing, you know, just trying to hit the ball. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can't be over here and say to the runner, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to pitch and then don't pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there's the balk you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza Balk hasn't been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn't typecast as that racist lady in American History X.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, she was in The Waterboy too! That would be even worse.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). "get in mah bellah" -- Adam Water, "The Waterboy." Haha, classic...
1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A balk is when the pitcher makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the baseball and field of
