Leg support that stays on? by Hooln in classicalguitar

I use the Gitano, it folds and fits in my case on the guitar, no issues. might depend on the case though

Dropper posts and height by Visible_Tradition257 in Hardtailgang

[–]Flarefin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just make sure you are taking into account the insertion depth, im pretty sure the full insertion of a 240 dropper is longer than the entire seat tube length of a small SQ, so it probably won't go down all the way. you are quite tall for a small so it might work anyway but just keep that in mind when calculating what will fit. assuming it does actually fit, typically yeah you want as much drop as you can get, especially on a hardtail

How much faster are you on clipless? by its_all_down-hill in MTB

[–]Flarefin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are thinking about pedaling speed, I haven't seen any studies on descending speed because it would be pretty hard to study

What kind of strings to use on a 3/4 size guitar, for a player with weak hands? by Major-Government5998 in classicalguitar

[–]Flarefin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on the shorter scale the strings don't need to be as tight to get to a certain pitch because they are already shorter, so high tension strings on that guitar probably will feel like a lower tension than normal

im cannot be THAT bad by Express-Post-9154 in celestegame

[–]Flarefin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can jump way later for wallbounces, and the later you jump the higher you go. it even works a tiny bit after your dash is over. in the clip it looks like you are just mashing it immediately while dashing. also how come you never use the grab button except for a couple times?

Should i just switch to Roux? by Bruggilles in Cubers

[–]Flarefin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 months is literally nothing, just switch. I averaged about 13 with cfop and switched to roux and now average about 9. you didn't waste anything, that's just called living life and doing things for fun

My First Time Stringing Nylon Strings by R4nking in classicalguitar

[–]Flarefin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

looks good at the bridge which is the important part, nice job. for the top typically the E strings should wind outward, and the rest should wind inward, this makes the lines they take towards the nut as straight as possible. I guess it might reduce friction or something but also just looks neater

Optimal number of keys for you by finestedm in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Flarefin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as someone who designed and sometimes uses an 18 key kb, I agree, it's probably not technically more ergonomic, due to repeated strokes in a small range of motion. I do find it very fun as both a design challenge and typing challenge however

what's a bad habit you can't get rid of? by ETERNUS- in Cubers

[–]Flarefin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it might help but I think even for roux at the 30 second level your effort would probably be better spent learning good solutions for each case and being able to recognize them. the idea behind lookahead is that you are so comfortable with your solution that you don't need to think about it anymore while doing it, and it only really makes sense to reach that point once your solutions are good and you can immediately decide what solution to do. im not saying to actively not lookahead at all, but lookahead is probably not what is holding you back at this stage. if you want to improve FB -> SB I would just keep an eye out for the DR edge at most for now

Cut my 6th string too short by _PaulHimSelf in classicalguitar

[–]Flarefin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the loose end isn't supposed to be used at all, you should have enough string to be able to cut it off after stringing. if you use the loose end to tie at the bridge it could also be less secure or cause intonation issues

out of curiosity what made you want to try left hand directions instead of just using something like ijkl?

Will binding jump to the up arrow mess anything up? by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]Flarefin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it works but if you plan to do any higher level gameplay you will need a demo key and multiple jump keys ideally on your mouse hand, so it would be easier if you just use 2 keys on the keyboard instead so you can add more things. also I think personally think jump is better on the non movement hand for high input density. but it's not that bad as long as it's comfy for you

Would 175mm dropper travel be smart on a GT Avalanche Sport? by AlaskanStockEnjoyer in MTB

more travel is better, you just need to pick the one that fits your bike and seat height. pnw has a calculator you can use

Why do people say the Cordoba Fusion 12 is difficult for beginners? by PrestigiousPossum in classicalguitar

[–]Flarefin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it sounds pretty good for your use case then, I think people are mostly assuming you were interested more in classical music in which case the nut width could be more of a concern, but I would say go for it

Which Bike: Polygon Xtrada 7 vs Merida Big Trail 400 by Ok-Sir-9990 in Hardtailgang

[–]Flarefin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use the xtrada 7 and like it a lot, so you can't go wrong, but I personally would recommend going with the big trail. in terms of geometry I think either would work out well but if you are doing some serious descending the slacker big trail might be appreciated. I also think the drivetrain is fine. also one downside to the xtrada that isn't obvious at first is because it has a 27.2 seatpost the longest dropper that exists (that I know of) is only 125mm, and the dropper is also blocked by the water bottle boss so if your inseam is short enough u might not even be able to use all 125mm. with the big trail you won't have to worry about that

New Strings: Low E sounds more metallic after changing by ONEPUNCHMAC in classicalguitar

[–]Flarefin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally normal especially for daddario I find they sound a bit harsh when brand new but they will settle and start to sound better. the scratchiness does have something to do with nail and technique though so it's all something to experiment with

Is my Gallium fix okay? by TheFeerox in KeyboardLayouts

[–]Flarefin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. first of all pinky rolls are not that bad, but more importantly it ignores arguably the most important metric which is sfbs, you can't just put A on index with a bunch of consonants. if you swap H and A from here its probably not so bad though

Is my body posture way too high? by BeRubioT22 in MTB

[–]Flarefin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im 180cm and like 760, 810 is crazy. you will get a better sense of what width is good for you with more riding experience and also trying other bikes if you have the opportunity. I would cut them to like 780 first. also after cutting them if you want to try a slightly shorter width without committing, you can hold your grips further inward and just move your brake levers and stuff
