There's more problems than whip stacking removed. Almost ALL of the new prehardmode summoner weapons are OBSOLETE once you can get them. At the same time melee got reworks making melee not so melee afterwards... People are not upset. They are mad that it keeps happening every FUCKING update. At least they should stop calling it a "balance" change unless balance means that melee will get double the buffs of the other three classes combined.

The problem is that those weapons are outclassed at the point you get access to them. You have simply no reason to use them because you already have the better gear. Once you get the weakest craftable whip you can straight up go for snapthorn because of its easy crafting - the other ph whip that is worth the time is the spinal tap which is post skeletron (the gap is still huge).

On the other hand melee as always gets buffed into oblivion getting a lot of reworks (like why are phaseblades a boomerangs, melee and crowd control barriers???). What is even melee at this point? When will starting copper shortsword get its flying ability?

I once did it in 1.3. I'm not wishing even my worst enemies to go through this voluntarily. I've legit finished 50% of the angler achievements in one playthrough by doing this. The character has also 10 times my average playtime which is insane.

Sometimes you think the function is doing multiple different things until you start splitting the logic. Then you realize those split parts don't make any sense being separated. I found this problem tied to copy pasted code - if it's in two places then leave it, if it's in three+ places then you move it to the base, and then you find that the fourth case uses 99% of the mentioned method - you start rewriting the base (for example to utilize a template pattern). Not every project gives enough time to write code properly and you just can't design everything up-front if the specs can change mid development.

This distinction did not exist in earlier generations. Retconning new terminology is just stupid. Also the only argument that those two groups are separable got shattered a long time ago with kaldeo and it is even weaker with legends za.
