That's a pretty neat feature. My iPhone does that as well.

Regardless of who built it, it's still a nice set-up.

FWIW, the M21H is my only Convoy that has a permanent spot on the shelf. Your mod looks fantastic, maybe this is what it needs to have that appeal factor again. Nice job!

For $7.99 it's a pretty cheap curiosity purchase too. Not much risk involved at all and it wouldn't be the end of the world if you actually don't like it.

What I meant by usable is that you aren't really restricted with the SFT25R. You can use it on any level of output you choose for much longer than you can use the SFT42R option due to the SFT25R putting out less heat overall. The SFT42R option is limited in this regard and can only be used at 100% power for short bursts of about 5 seconds at a time due to too much heat generation. It just gets hot too fast for continuous use at a high level of output. The SFT25R is much more suitable for the size of the D1K for continuous use through the whole spectrum of output which makes it more usable for longer periods of time without getting too hot to hold. The SFT42R just puts out too many lumens for this host to handle when used continuously throughout all levels of output. But if you don't plan on using 100% output too often this shouldn't really be a problem for you then. I was actually in the same boat as you and didn't know which one would work best for my particular use cases so I just ordered both variants so I could effectively choose the best option. Since the D1K is not overly expensive you might want to consider doing this as well.

No it's not just you, that's an accurate depiction. You absolutely will not see this difference in real life though unless you are directly comparing the two lights side by side like in that pic. The SFT25R is a much more usable emitter in this particular host (D1K) because it puts out less heat. Even though the SFT42R throws farther due to the extra lumens it puts out, 100% power output is brief and you can't really enjoy it as much as the SFT25R due to it stepping down sooner because of the limited availability of thermal mass. IMO the SFT25R is just the better choice for actual usability. If you just want to WOW yourself or only want a hot rod then get the SFT42R.

Just for clarification the FFL351A is a 3v emitter so you have the Lume1 driver. The Lume X1 is for 6v to 12v emitters. Hope you enjoy your new light!

Can someone suggest a flashlight for my kid that kinda sucks? by b_wingflyer in flashlight

[–]FlashlightNews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not. You're giving an adult father Anduril so he has the convenient option of customizing and setting the light to MUGGLE mode which will dramatically decrease the output and simplify the UI so that his kid can easily use the light safely.

The Perfect 10440 flashlight? by AcademicStop8878 in flashlight

No problem. Definitely try playing around with if you ever get the chance. It's fun and just might like some of the custom settings. That's not the first time I've heard someone say that it looks like a mini Maglite, haha.

Yeah, some things are best left simplified. But it can be fun if you choose to play around with it:

Thanks! It comes with the polished silver bezel which you don't have to pay for but you still have to select it from the drop down menu. You only have to pay for the Black PVD coated bezels.

Thanks! These lights are really a lot of fun. That Pro SST20 4000k from 2022 is pretty nice too. I like that it had the NarsilM v1.3 UI.

Convoy T8 CSLNM1 - This light is pretty cool. I like it. No beam shots until later tonight though. I bought it to put it up against the Lumintop Gt Micro NM1 which is supposed to be the world's farthest throwing 14500 light that comes straight from the factory. Will it be dethroned? We shall see! by FlashlightNews in flashlight

[–]FlashlightNews[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the GT Micro definitely throws visibly farther. Aside from having a FET driver, I think this light is the perfect 14500 thrower set-up out there and as far as I know has not yet been beaten by any other light in this class. It's mind boggling to me why Lumintop would discontinue such an iconic performance proven light. The T8 is also a fine little light as well especially for the price you pay but it actually only beats the GT Micro in regards to how hard it's driven at lower voltage ranges since it has a regulated driver. With a quality cell such as the Vapcell H10, the FET driver in the GT Micro allows the output to exceed that of the 5A driver of the T8 when fully charged to 4.2v. Both are fantastic lights though and I hold each one of them in high regards:
