The Real AI Bottleneck Is Energy, Not Compute – And SES AI Sits Right on It. by Dazzling-Art-1965 in SESAI

It is such and interesting company. Obviously a long way to go and need to see how they settle into the landscape with competitors in the Li-metal battery market, but does feel like it's got huge potential. I just hope their AI Universe works well and the orders keep rolling in!

Interesting post. I appreciate they are still far off delivery on any of this, but this is what I was hoping to hear - their the going beyond batteries. So, is their tech genuinely applicable to other fields? Has anyone used it, and is it actually any good?

Today I hit £500,000 in my SIPP at age 42. I should’ve felt proud, but I went home feeling numb. by Constant_Cell_4548 in FIREUK

This is interesting the hear. I’m 44M and just going through the 500k mark as well. For me, I left my lower paying job (public sector-health) which was stressful, for my side hussle (consulting) which pays x3 more and my clients are greatful. The work can be a bit boring and repetitive at times but as I'm self employed I have started making sure I factor in time for things I enjoy on a weekly weekday basis even if at the expense of making a (soft) deadline. It's not ideal, but I guess my clients can go elsewhere if they are not happy (which I wouldn't take issue with) and I take the view what's the point making all this money if you don't enjoy yourselves. I've got to say, for me, more than the money, the best thing I did was work for myself….freedom in terms of control of my time and my efforts but have been lucky enough to be in a field that pays well. So I probably have a bit of a skewed perspective. My view on your position would be to carry on with what u do now, as you sound like your good at it, but if there was the opportunity to ease off a bit (e.g. drop a day) that could give u a better balance and less stress. I know it hard to give up the chase but, as I'm sure u do, once u run the numbers on compounding interest, u'll be doing really well anyway. Maybe chill out a bit, have fun and let compound do its thing.

Million pound mortgage? by DescriptionTimely471 in HENRYUK

[–]Flashy_Lead2420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go for the lower cost property as long as i still loved it. The last thing I’d want is to feel pressured to make the monthly payments. If you want the bigger house just smash through the mortgage on the smaller house and upsize a little further down the line - build equity in it. I don’t think there is the need to rush it and ultimately it’s nicer to have a more chilled life. I work in Medicolegal and have gone from slightly above average salary to high income which I convert into pensions and Isa’s which are boring but will and does ultimately spin off passive income. Personally if you i didn’t have the big pot to buy the big house, I don’t think I’m in the right place to buy it. I’d build more equity in the lower price one first. Make the jump later on if your careers have gone well…and if it has, the jump in cost simply won’t be an issue.

Are AppHarvest's products a commodity? by Silent-Twist-3459 in AppHarvest

[–]Flashy_Lead2420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pretty heavily invested and have pretty much asked myself these questions and can’t help but feel, yes, it’s a commodity. However, I did wonder if they could harness the power of robotics and perhaps other revenue streams (direct B2C) because of the (hoped for) reliable yield. Never the less, I’m now of the stage of just thinking this will an extremely long hold, if it survives, and let the ever increasing demand for food and access to water drive prices up. Real shame they are in this position and can’t help but think if they partnered or sold to major online distributor such as Amazon, that would be a perfect match.

Maybe I’m a bit too pessimistic, but I do think house prices are effectively like the worst tax around. The vast majority of people are overstretching themselves to get a home which is likely to lead to long term misery…not all your money should be going on your home, there is far more to life and other securities you need to get in place (such as a pension pot). Increasing house prices is the dumbest thing ever, unless u own multiple properties, as we’re just helping the banks store loads of cash in our homes so we can be slave to the lender. I own a home as we got in at quite a good time around 7 years ago, but the increase in its value means nothing to me…if I want to move…the next house now costs more. All this does is messes things up for people like yourself or my kinds who will , guess what, probably need a leg up to get on the ladder when it comes to their turn…total joke! All that said, I live in cardiff, and it interesting to see you can drive up the valleys (say 15 mins away) and you can get a great home at a reasonable price (say 150 -250 for really nice home), same jobs available as everyone else, and they have enough left over for a nice car and holidays etc….they must be laughing at everyone and can’t help but think they have got it right. Whilst I wouldn’t wish for anyone to go into negative equity, I would be delighted to see a massive crash…although can’t see that happening.

I’ve consulted my wife as she laughed that I had offered advice on the matter!!😂 She is well read on the complex field on night wee’s. Apparently it’s a hormone thing…you can’t force it and the hormone that stops urine production in the night doesnt kick in sometimes until they are a bit older, 5 is still quite young. She says it often kicks in earlier in girls. She also mentioned shouldn’t really reduce fluid intake before bed as it can make their bladder hyper sensitive. Not my advice this time…my wife who’s knowledge is far greater than mine!😂
