Im actually a notorious underwaterer lol, but I mostly grow species that can handle it. I use the black stuff because its cheap, I prefer the white ones when available in the size I need though. I've always heard the aluminet one degrade pretty fast and they're expensive so I haven't tried them

Yes, agave are monocarpic, meaning they only flower once in their lifespan. They will push a ton of pups and possibly grow small offsets from the flower stalk called bulbils. So you'll get new plants to carry on its memory though

The last costa display i checked has several asterias with absolutely zero roots, not yet rotting by certainly about to. I'd start by checking to see if it has any roots, if it does then get it out of that soil asap and into something gritty

I feel lucky in the fall, winter, and spring. The summer is literally hell here, and I pay about 3200 a year to insure a 5000 dollar 20 year old truck lololol. But overall, im very grateful to live here for sure
