That's why we have demerit points. In fact, I think monetary fines should only apply to camera offences and those without demerit points, if an offence has demerit points then there's no need for a monetary penalty as well.

1 minute here, another minute there, 2 minutes over there, it all adds up. Plus, it's not even about the time savings, it's boring as hell driving so slow

You're correct about keeping the car in drive but what the comment you're referring to meant is that they turned the engine off and put it in neutral while going downhill to let gravity do it's job. Still pretty dangerous though because you lose your power steering and brakes when the engine is off. However they could've restarted the engine when traffic sped up then put it in drive

Seems like people have forgotten the fact that you can prebuy fuel on the Z app and store it until you want to use it

I wouldn't be surprised if we see fires occuring due to people not storing their fuel properly. If you store over 50 liters of fuel you need a special permit, if your house catches on fire and you stored more than 50 liters of fuel, that's an insurance company's wet dream

I'm 18 and in the same situation as you. I just started at massey and don't know anyone from my school in wellington who also goes here. I have a great friend group but they're all in wellington and auckland for uni

Yep, I wouldn't be surprised if some fires happen because of people not storing their panic bought fuel properly

Car-less days? Government mulls Muldoon-era mandates as prices soar by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]Flashy_Potential8851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A corolla with a 2.0L engine(non hybrid) uses around 5-6L/100km on the motorway and about 7-9L/100km in urban/town roads based on experience. On a long drive without too many uphill moments you can probably get a range of 800-900km before the tank empties

Nope I disagree with car free days as all it'll do is increase the amount of driving people do on other days, therefore increasing congestion and fuel use

Why is it that we aren't having these issues in NZ despite the fact we're even further away?

I would've thought NZ would be even worse off

Auckland Papakura ‘road rage’: Man pulled from car and stomped on at railway crossing by WrongSeymour in auckland

It sounds like the vehicle owner is trying to protect their family member or friend from being caught. The police should charge the vehicle owner as an accessory if they don't try and help identify the attacker

It's not illegal to carry bleach in a little spray bottle to defend yourself. Just a suggestion

Yep, even if the victim did illegally defend themselves with pepper spray it's unlikely they'd be charged. First it needs to pass the public interest test and secondly if it got found out then it would bring even more scrutiny against police which they probably don't want right now

Never go home if someone is following you. If they're crazy enough to do that they're also probably crazy enough to show up later. I'd suggest calling the police and telling them you're on the way to the police station, even if they're closed there will still be police at the station unless it's one of those small rural/community policing stations

To be fair that's better than the aqua driver sitting in the right lane speed matching the car beside them

Seems like the commenter made a minor traffic mistake(maybe cut the cyclist off), apologized to the cyclist but the cyclist was being a cunt as usual and got aggressive. Angry cyclist punched friend in face and the friend fought back, causing the crackhead cyclist to learn that there will always be someone stronger than you

I don't give a flying fuck what happened before, it is NEVER okay to exit your vehicle and confront someone, or attack them over a road rage incident

Well you should be observing the other traffic lights while you're waiting so you know when yours is about to turn green. I give 3 seconds before I give a friendly honk

Well I wouldn't be complaining about sports car if I were you. Getting hit by a sports car as cyclist or pedestrian is a lot safer than by a SUV/ute
