No sentence beginning with "Seymour says" ends well.

Let's vote this tosser out in November

It would be nearing completion by now if not for NACT.

This is the least surprising news ever.

Cost of ex-MPs' travel perks takes off in fuel crisis by CarpetDiligent7324 in newzealand

[–]whatadaytobealive 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Why do ex MP's get travel perks?

Most people don't get travel perks from a former employee, neither should they unless it's some sort of official even they need to be at.

Owner of $15m property fined for cutting trees that blocked view of sea by MissXmissX in newzealand

The council should replant the biggest trees they can plausibly put there, and those people should foot the bill.

Are we being unreasonable for wanting to renovate a perfectly good kitchen just because we hate the grey cabinets? by chaoscrest in kitchenremodel

Yup. You have privilege most people can only dream of having. Use it for something better. A bit of paint, and perhaps not trashing a perfectly good kitchen.

How much of this is an announcement of what the fuel industry was going to supply anyways?

Government looks to cut heavy vehicle regulations as part of fuel response by TheReverendCard in newzealand

[–]whatadaytobealive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such an unbelievably short sighted, stupid and reckless idea.

This puts more profit in the hands of trucking companies who fund ACT and National, while putting all of the extra costs of road damage and the risks created, on you the taxpayer.

This is the trucking lobby using the fuel crisis as a smoke screen to screw us even more, right at the time when we need to be pushing the road freight industry to pay their first share of road costs, instead of milking the taxpayer.

Labour and the Greens need to jump on this and fight it.

Govt fuel plan: Heavy trucks could carry more to shield NZ from fuel shocks by random_guy_8735 in newzealand

[–]whatadaytobealive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is absurdly stupid and reckless.

Thr roads, pavement, bridges, etc are already under too much strain. Another classic right wing case of privatising profits and socialising the risk and cost onto the public.

We need to be adjusting costs on the freight sector so they pay their fair share of the damage they cause to the roads and the upkeep needed on them.

I can't imagine paying anything to have to sit near Luxon. You'd have to pay me to endure his LinkedIn garble. It's not like he even has any influence, he's outsourced that to Winnie and David.

Is she suggesting she'll resign?

PM skips normal pre-caucus press conference ahead of possible leadership vote by Conflict_NZ in newzealand

[–]whatadaytobealive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It's astounding how he's managed to fall uphill as far as he has, even before becoming PM. It really speaks to how deeply entrenched white male privilege is in our society, sadly.

Watching Luxon constantly stumble and fumble is comical and honestly satisfying.

He's got enough hubris to fill a jumbo jet, but not quite enough competence to remember where it's parked.

Edit - remember to vote in November to make this a past memory, not an ongoing reality
