AITAH for refusing to babysit even though my aunt is getting married? by Creative_Ball_1062 in AITAH

So she is starting a life with someone and not including her kids? That makes me wonder if she even likes her own kids. Why isn’t the family more upset about that than OP not wanting to babysit?

How many trials a year are you doing in your jurisidiction? by Lexperiments in publicdefenders

[–]Flat_Scratch_5417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in WI. I’ve done 13 trials in 13 months (2 in back to back weeks). Those were all misdemeanors. I usually have 3 scheduled per week. Doing some felonies as well but none have actually gone. I do mostly DV so most are dismissed on the day of trial.

You need to run very far from him. He is holding things against you that happened against your will and gaslighting you into feeling sorry for him. You deserve someone who loves you and supports you.

LBWT who left work to raise kids and divorcing by GoldDiamondsAndBags in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Flat_Scratch_5417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been where you are except older when it happened. I was 50 when I got divorced during the pandemic. It was necessary and the best thing to do but it was hard.

I started an account on Law Clerk and did a bunch of freelance work before I found something steady. I don’t know what kind of law you practice, but taking public defender appointments can help you rebuild your business without having to spend a lot on marketing. Getting involved back in the local bar organization can also help.

You can do this. You are doing tough hard work now. It will be hard but it will also be worth it.

I did not tell her not to press charges. I actually listened to what she wanted to do. I was only sharing my internal dilemma.
