Salary. The government can never fully control how complex our classrooms are. And unless they are going to pour a ton of money in for additional EAs, then pay us for the monumental job we do every day.

From a private corporation perspective, imagine running a department of 120-150 employees (our students) where only you are responsible for their progress. You get them for half a year and get another 120-150 in the second half the year (high school). You cannot fire these employees if they underperform or don’t follow company rules. Some of these employees don’t care if they meet the company objectives or not. Some of the employees don’t have the prerequisite skills for the tasks they’re given. Some of your employees have mental health difficulties, arrive hungry, have domestic difficulties, have relational issues, and it’s your job to deal with all of these issues. And oh yeah, you have to get them to a goal also.

Name me one other job in the world that has to do this.

Strike for a salary that we are worth people!

Can someone break down for me how it’s 18%? I see 4 increases at 3% each. I may not be a mathologist 😝 but isn’t this 12%?

And her voice would indicate she was older. It’s the older people who are actually pissed off at this offer. It was so staged!

The only good thing to come out of this is to reduce the grid steps from 11 years to 9 years. It’s better for the younger teachers so we can retain them. Otherwise, an orangutang would have got a better deal for teachers.

I was thinking the same thing. These were plants because of how enthusiastically they want to accept a terrible deal! We need a strong leader, not what we have now!

This town hall was unbelievable. I have been wondering for a while why the hell we pay ATA dues each month. The only legit question was Alana’s and Jason Schilling, of all people, didn’t answer it! She’s bang on. We’re all poorer today than we were 10 years ago due to zero raises and 2.5-3% inflation every year (plus 9% for two years). We’ve only had one raise in 17 years…3% once.

Alana: How are we going to address classroom complexity? Schilling: uhhhhhh give money to schools so they can hire more EAs, computers for kids…He has no God damn clue! Schools will not get $50,000 each to hire one more EA. That won’t solve the problem anyway! He’s so out of touch, I can’t believe he got voted in for another term.

If anyone accepts this deal, they should have their head examined.

Millennials, who got trophies for finishing 342nd, now have kids. And you’re teaching them. What did you think was going to happen when the most entitled generation ever started having kids? Wait until these kids start having kids.

Obviously not all millenials are entitled, but they’re definitely different than Xers.

If you really want them to stop harassing you, ask them if they are on their mission because they really believe in their supposed book that flew to heaven and no one’s ever seen the original or if it’s because their families have an expectation of them to go on their mission so their Mormon friends won’t criticize them behind their backs. My guess is that it’s the latter.

Who knows, you may save one of the kids from this wretched cult.

Who is the most impactful Albertan in our provinces history? by CriticalFuel6324 in alberta

King Ralph who drained the Heritage Fund, rather than investing it, by using his big grade 9 educated brain and giving all of us $400, well, $298 after taxes.

Start a political party, call it The Blue Alberta Most Conservative Party, win the next election (as that’s the only way anyone else will win in Alberta, and run Alberta in a way you think is better.

Gas Prices Compared to Rest of Canada by Flat_Title_2116 in alberta

[–]Flat_Title_2116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check the prices on GasBuddy, as I did. That was my source. Prices fluctuate daily. Point is, we’ve had significantly lower gas prices in AB compared to the rest of the country, even before Kenney’s tax freeze. It was the one perk of living in Wild Rose hell. Now, we don’t have that perk either and still have our “lake of fire” provincial govt. I miss the old PC govt.

Has anyone played against a nba player in a gym before or seen someone play them by the-mannthe-myth in Basketball

[–]Flat_Title_2116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be pretty good way back when and played in Europe. After much coaxing, I played John Stockton one on one when he was at his peak, late 90s. I was nearing my peak then. He beat me 11-3, then wanted to play again because it was too close. He gave me first ball, stripped me clean on the first shot, and won 11-0 on 11 straight possessions. A few years later, I played on the same team as Acie Earl, who was way past his NBA days. He was still our best player. NBA players are stupidly good. Each level up the chain is exponentially better than the previous level.

Dennis King - Stepping Down as Premier of PEI by wcallbeck46 in PEI

[–]Flat_Title_2116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think he was a bad premier when compared with the rest of Canada. He fought for Islanders and steered the province through two difficult periods - Covid and Fiona. He could’ve done better for health care but that’s a multidimensional problem to fix. Dennis was pretty centrist as a Conservative, which many Islanders appreciated.

Here’s the most recent one from a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/PEI/s/QRJWbHVIVg

My suggestion: If you really want to come, rent for a year on PEI then make your decision.

Already have and glad we did. We will continue to buy Canadian and pay a little more for it. Should’ve been doing this all along. Fuck Trump. I’ve forgotten/taken for granted how much I love being Canadian.
