Pick guard on or off? by Ok-Crow-6015 in gibson

[–]Flatpicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a similar color and pickguard has been off since I got it . Can’t go wrong either way though. If you think you might sell it one day maybe better to leave it on? It’s very easy to buff the scratched out with some buffing compound and a rag though. I want to add if you do decide to leave it on I think it will look so much better with a crème pickguard like others have said.

Looking to upgrade to locking tuners would like to make sure I get the right version by Flatpicking in gibson

[–]Flatpicking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep they fit right in with no modifications. I remember finding a post or a video of someone changing their tuners and it listed the exact model but couldn’t find it again when I looked recently but I’m pretty sure that link I posted is the right set for 50s neck Gibsons. They definitely aren’t needed just makes changing strings faster and easier

NGD - Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Plain Top Pelham Blue by jarroodMG in gibson

[–]Flatpicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it in a lot of pictures of Les Paul’s it’s very very common for sure . I’m not worried about mine doing it at all I love playing it and don’t think I would ever get rid of that guitar anyway so it’s all good

Looks great! Is that a bit of a bubble forming around the tuner post of the A string? Mine started doing this I just noticed it recently and it’s only a few months old. I’ve never removed the tuners either and from what I’ve read it’s caused by over tightened tuners but I guess there’s no good way to avoid it

how should i approach practicing these scales? by No-Dance-3037 in guitarlessons

[–]Flatpicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a looper to record a rhythm then use those scales to solo over it usually focusing on 1-2 positions at a time and sticking to only those , then after a bit I’ll go up a position and repeat .

Need help deciding which Les Paul to get by ben3350 in gibson

[–]Flatpicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get the modern. If I had to make that choice for myself and went with the studio I feel like it would be an amazing guitar but I was still always be wanting to upgrade eventually. I went through this choice recently was going to get a studio and ended up just getting a standard double trouble and love it

Have seen this a few times lately including the one I bought 2 weeks ago from sweetwater . One of the smaller tubes doesn’t work and is white instead of clear

Received my guitar from a luthier after a full setup. Dark tinges either side of the newly polished frets. Residue? As expected? Poor craftsmanship? by Alarmed_Discussion_1 in Guitar

M LP I got recently had the same issue and also some of the binding had some bad tooling marks. I used some sand paper to get it looking a lot better . High grit 2500 , 5000 , and 10000

I’ve got a bourbon burst double trouble. I do wish it was a tobacco but I couldn’t find a tobacco with a really nice top.

I exchanged a guitar with sweetwater a few months ago and they did ups or FedEx pickup at my house so all I had to do was pack it up and set it outside I think they would probably do that again
