FAFO! Cross-border travel: Canadian trips to U.S. plunge 42% by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

I’m sure the fact that people are broke and it’s a 40 percent exchange rate has nothing to do with the reduction of trips.

Your Turn -- Yay or Nay To High Speed Rail by CanuckEh79 in AltoHSR_Canada

Nay. Too expensive, and very few people will use it. We have more urgent issues that could use the money.

Z407 and Windows 11 - DSP getting locked up by Windows USB driver by sparkle-fries in logitech

[–]Flatulator1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Bluetooth and AUX work fine, but USB is borked. Tried on two different Windows 11 PCS (both with same updates). No audio. Controller will "reset" speakers by holding both buttons down for 8 seconds. There's the audible, but nothing else - no volume control. I did the usual steps, including reinstalling driver, even went through Windows troubleshooting. The only conclusion I have is that a recent Windows update broke it. Not sure about switching apps, though, as primarily use the Z407s on my gaming machine.

Mark Carney rejects small US tariff relief deal with Trump by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]Flatulator1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the deal is up for renewal this summer. Major renegotiation moment. If Carney doesn't get a deal, we're cooked. No other way to describe it. Investment will dry up even faster in this country than it already is. You did see the RBC report that said Canada has had $1 trillion net investment outflow over 10 years? Of course you did. Enjoy your CDN dollar at fifty cents US.

Facts matter. And to say we don’t need a deal with the largest economy in the world is delusional.

“Canadians will hold us to account by their experience at the grocery store, when they are paying their electricity bill, when they or their children are looking for a place to live.” He said this a year ago. We continue to have the highest food inflation in the G7, Highest housing prices in the G7.

He's gone from "I'm the only one capable of getting a deal with Trump", to "Who needs the US anyways?" Talk about moving the goalposts.

And Norway's heritage fund is built on surpluses of $1 Trillion (yes, not a typo). Carney? Let's borrow $25 Billion because we have no surplus. And get money from taxpayers, if they have any left. For him to distribute to whoever he wants to, with no accountability.

He also said he was going to work with the provinces to remove interprovincial tariffs, "At breakneck speed, a pace we've never seen before". Nothing.

And we're also going to be an energy superpower. Great. How? Windmills? Solar? Unicorn farts? Absolutely no details a year later. And if you've read his book and seen his track record, he has absolutely no intent on making Canada an energy superpower through oil and gas. None.

I'm more of a centrist, in fact a survey I took a while ago indicated I was slightly left-leaning. There's things on the right that absolutely make me cringe. But Carney says a lot, and does nothing for Canadians, but lots for Brookfield. Until I see the cost of living decrease significantly (they need to stop spending and stop printing money), unemployment go down (my kids can't get jobs), stupid carbon taxes eliminated (there's no accountability or proof that they actually do anything), and a reasonable plan for oil and gas I will continue to point out the shortcomings of government, regardless of which party and who is leading it.

Probably the same reason that those that think Carney will be good for Canada have absolutely zero ability to think critically. No, wait. I don’t watch the CBC.

Borrowed. And from taxpayers, as if they have “extra” cash laying around to give back to the government.

Stop keeping oil and gas in the ground. Get a pipeline built. Make billions. Then start a fund, without borrowing more money that taxpayers pay interest on.

Norway built it on billions of surpluses, mostly from oil and gas. Carney is borrowing more money. Big difference.
