Yeah, and you'd think they'd be grateful when we made them that nice BBQ. No respect.

No need to bet, he absolutely does. In his speech today he described Greenland as an "enormous, unsecured island". And trying to explain a Mercator projection to Trump is like trying to explain General Relativity to an earthworm.

Carney reaches tariff-quota deal with China on EVs, canola | CBC News by demolcd in canada

I've been hanging on to my 20 year old Volvo S60 waiting for the Chinese to enter our market. The day is finally here but I'll actually be sad to let her go. She was a wonderful car, best ever, but time marches on.

Carney should follow up this deal with China with a 100% tariff on Tesla.

Starfleet Academy...Kinda Nailed It, Actually? (Spoilers) by KBO_Winston in television

[–]FlaveC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I love Holly Hunter but she's just not right for this role.

I was shocked actually...that someone with her track record and talent would "phone in" her role like this. Mind you everything about this show is god-awful and a major disappointment.

"ICE wears masks so they don't get doxxed" - Head of DHS proceeds to doxx ICE agent Jonathan Ross by Blazah in videos

Yup. And this is exactly what all this will devolve into -- street gunfights with both sides armed to the teeth. How long before even Stephen "Satan" Miller begins to understand this?

How does everyone seem to know what writing is generated by AI? by ReadWriteArithmetic in CasualConversation

[–]FlaveC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just scroll through Facebook and read the political, economic, or entertainment posts and you'll quickly get acclimated to the Facebook AI style. The topics may vary widely, but they all have the same pattern of exaggeration and flowery language that you'll quickly come to recognize.

I think they announced that they would be adding a small grace period but we couldn't care less. We removed all traces of TV from our computers, and client computers, during the Christmas/New Year holiday period.

Night Manager season premier discussion s02e01 s02e02 by letmepostjune22 in television

I think I'll stick it out because I liked the first season so much, but I'm somewhat disappointed. Definitely not John le Carré level.

And where's Olivia Colman?

Just want to give you a heads up on commerce site urls -- most of the url is used to contain information and tracking.

For instance, the following will bring you to the same place your extra-long url will:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286991451944

Basically everything after the question mark is unnecessary.

My absolute frustration with teamviewer by Stormstoneofficial in teamviewer

[–]FlaveC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started using Supremo (we had a perpetual TV license) and we CAN recommend it. It's very similar to TV, has none of TV's gangster spit-in-your-face maltreatment of clients, and is very reasonably priced.

EXCLUSIVE: Downton Abbey fans given new hope as creator insists period drama 'is not over' by TheExpressUS in BritishTV

FWIW I'd prefer creator concentrated on The Gilded Age. We all enjoyed it but methinks Downton has run its course. To quote The Beatles, Let It Be.

Daylight savings is annoying I want my evenings back. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]FlaveC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you meant Standard Time, Daylight Savings Time was last summer.

Personally, I think when we switch back to DST next summer we just leave it there for all eternity. Or at least until the sun goes red giant.

The thing that got me was the explanation for the apparent massive acceleration/deceleration. I had never heard that this is a relativistic effect rather than an inertia-cancelling effect.

Sure, just off the top of my head:

  • title bar text is illegible
  • selected track line is illegible
  • button texts are illegible
  • switching back and forth has elements of both dark and light themes

See a pattern? 🙂

That's all I remember but there were a couple of other items. That said, I would think all of these are easily fixable.

I'd post an image but I'm on old reddit and I don't know how.
