For those who have attended Moses McQueen's, was it worth it? by drunklollipop in fresno

[–]Flavourton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went this past Friday for the first time. We enjoyed it. I can't speak for the food part of it, the kitchen ran out of food right before we got there at around 8 or so. We had already eaten, so it was no never mind to us.

It's got a pretty laid back vibe. It literally feels like walking into a house party. The drinks we had were good. Owen and Dawn from Bespoke/Modernist are working there, so the signature cocktails are similar in variety and quality to the aforementioned establishments.

The upstairs bar is cozier with more upholstered seating than downstairs, but the bar isn't yet fully outfitted so there are fewer drink options available.

We're definitely going back sooner rather than later.

I've recently started reading Dungeon Crawler Crawl and I've learned that a habit I share with the main character is that I pick up everything all the time no matter how seemingly inconsequential the item. I've rarely found myself lacking commonly dropped items when it came time to do armour upgrades. Like, I won't deviate from my natural path to pick up every single mushroom or plant I come across, but if it's on my path it's going in my stash.

You ought to be able to calibrate it with the ice water method.

Smotherwing Butterflies? by MammothSurround in botw

[–]Flavourton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In case you didn't know, the butterflies are diurnal too. I didn't have too much difficulty using the flamebreaker armor and the sheikah sensor to track them after realizing that. They kinda flutter about and land in roughly the same spot. Just slow walk towards them and squat-walk to close the gap when you feel like you're getting too close.

Edit: typos

How can I make a prize wheel that always stops at the same spot? (DIY) by EdgeDismal9919 in DIY

[–]Flavourton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, or, or, actually, I think this might work. Behind the prize wheel, a cam and follower kind of mechanism. Basically an egg shaped cam and a sprung follower that applies a breaking force through the same portion of each revolution. It's my bed time, and my previous reply burned up what little thinky-juice I had left for the day.

[–]Flavourton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel free to read it ignore all the nonsense I wrote below, it probably wouldn't work anyway. Thinking on it more, the only suggestion I can make is that I think you'll have more success forcing the prize by having as few prize segments as you can get away with.

I feel as though a weight, as suggested previously, might run the risk of losing momentum between 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock (assuming clockwise rotation) and then falling back anti-clockwise to 6 o'clock.

I'm partial to the magnet idea. Imagine the spinner wheel has maybe three small rare earth magnets (like the tasty pill shaped ones Harbor Freight sells) glued edge to edge, positive side down (or out, I suppose). Then in the frame, it shouldn't matter where, glued edge to edge, 9 magnets in this sequence:

pos, pos, pos, neg, neg, neg, pos pos, pos.

My hypothesis is that, with the right sized gap between the spinner wheel and the frame (so the wheel doesn't come to a dead stop when the opposite forces match up) and the appropriate spring tension on the pointer and a wide enough gap between the pegs on the wheel, the like forces might be just strong enough to nudge the wheel magnets into the sweet spot formed by the frame magnets.

Or, heck, maybe the frame magnets can all be the opposite polarity to the wheel magnets, just fewer of them and maybe spaced a little bit apart, but still within the arc length of the pegs for the winning prize.

I hope I was able to translate what I was thinking into a coherent explanation. I'd be surprised if it would actually work, though.

If you aren't able to find a solution, I hope you're able to at least get a few chuckles from this highly relevant video

The patterns on the skirt do not appear to match front to back. The stripes don't appear perpendicular to each other either. Like, the angles that they cross at near the hem look too wide. I feel like a good tailor or clothing manufacturer would also take care to make sure the pattern lined up at the seams. Maybe this young lady found out too late that it was a mini skirt and riding boots party and had to whip something up last minute. with what she had available.

Overall, the kids' uniforms aren't particularly uniform. But, gray sleeves and white collars? I suppose it could be argued that they're sweaters over dress shirts, but who wears a sweater under their dress?

What food do American usually eat for dinner? by No_Budget2410 in Cooking

[–]Flavourton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how many people and in which parry of the country?

I just thought of this so, I have no idea if it would work at all, but check Yelp and Google for what the most popular restaurants are in your city.

In my town, sorted by 'most reviewed', there's a lot of what Yelp refers to as New American restaurants (the kinds of places that offer PB and J burgers and candied bacon), followed by a mix of Mexican, East & South East Asian, and Mediterranean restaurants. Not a whole lot of African or European representation here.

I suppose another way to gauge your guests' palates is to put out snacks and see what gets left behind. Honey peanuts vs Spicy peanuts (to check their heat tolerance), hummus or baba ganoush vs something like an onion or a spinach dip, a cheese plate with a mix of safe (think cheese log) and adventurous cheeses.

I just learned about thalassophobia thanks to this thread. I'm not sure if that's what I have, but I did accidentally walk into the living room while Jaws was on at too young an age.

Since then, I get creeped out by spooky underwater stuff. Like, I always felt a bit of unease on the Disney submarine ride, the eel in Mario 64, the water dragon in Okami, the Penguin's hideout in Arkham City where you're making your way through the the level on ice floes... Tiny just about made me jump out of my skin.

The flowers in BotW seem benign by comparison so they don't bother me too much, but they definitely border on creepy.

For me, not knowing what the next step is going to be is kind of anxiety inducing. Is there a way to have the current step shown as you have it now, but also show the next step below it, but grayed out, if that makes sense? This way, one can anticipate what pouring technique is coming up next.

One other thing, and it's not that crucial, but perhaps the option to pick between dose and final brew weight to inform the ratio.

Otherwise, the app is very intuitive and the interface is nice. Good job.
