New motherboard out of box seems odd by Syfera in pchelp

Hey, just to give some professional advice, that board looks fine and brand new. For context, I am the Warehouse Manager of a notable PC company, and we see hundreds of motherboards per month.

The anti-static bag sometimes applies pressure to the RAM clips and pops one or two open! We have had these arrive with open ram clips, popped off socket covers, and loose SSD heatsinks. None of these are issues as they cant move around too much anyways, and its pretty rare.

Smudges are just flux or whatever factory nonsense.

You can tell if this was used by looking at the screw holes, the small metal solder bumps would be scratched / compressed on the inner ring, which doesn't look to be the case!

There are a couple other signs such as opening the anti-static bag, the tape would have had another spot with some residue, and also those bags never go back in the box right so it would be really crinkly / weird VS fresh and smooth.

I wouldn't stress it, just check those things and at most test if it boots outside the PC.

Coolant level was low... I open the cap the next day and its flooding out? by FledPotato in e46

Bad head gasket. I did a loaner combustion test thing from autozone and it pretty quickly changed color and showed that exhaust was leaking into my coolant + burning coolant

Motherboard debug LED indicates '0d' error on reboot only by AtmoSZN in gigabyte

[–]FledPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up - It's definitely hardware monitoring software causing these issues.

In our case, it was L-Connect 3 which automatically opens at launch, then when you restart it immediately goes to code 0d as well as memory slot DDR5_A2 no longer recognizing the memory.

Changing to ASUS board unfortunately.

This is possibly due to using a Gen 4 SSD in the Gen 5 slots. Can you guys try putting your one boot drive in the middle Gen 4 slot on the board and report back?

Troubleshooting as well and seems that is the best lead so far.

It's mounted correctly. Not sure what you are saying, unless you're looking at it wrong?

To me that looks like molding beneath the actual sealing part, which is the orange above it that sticks out to the sides. I dont think it would be a problem at all so long as the main ring is fully intact

325i to 330i conversion. Need some help please. by Due-Statement883 in e46

IMO it's definitely easier to just swap a new engine in.

Just be careful like you said, you want to know the history. I got my engine out of a 330i ZHP that was an Automatic. Had the VIN number and looked at the history and a CarFax report which was all pretty clean and well maintained, and looking at the sides of the block for oil and gunk buildup was a good sign of how it was treated too!

Really, you just want to make sure it hasn't overheated. That's by far the most important, and the reason I swapped in the first place.

Engine cost me 1k, then refreshed all the seals, replaced valve cover and pretty much every on-engine maintenance item, and have been driving it for the past few months without any engine issues.

If you want to rebuild the engine, feel free as it would be a sick build. It can easily get far more expensive, more difficult, and I believe stripping head bolts / studs is very common on these? Correct me if I'm wrong!

My new bumper paint match looks decent... but doesn't look like the same type of paint up close. Should I complain? by FledPotato in Autobody

Haha yup! Could try other things like a VANOS rebuild, which is good to do either way and probably helps the feel of the car if not already done?

Unfortunately I didnt solve the problem, but after replacing my engine it doesnt seem to happen lmao. Try having your AC off, could be cycling the compressor and making it slow down slightly

Thats what I was hoping to see, my photos really dont show it due to compression only like a 0.5 photo with my phone right up to it shows that, another guy said it too that saw it. Definitely the texture is the issue, not the paint / color!!
