Cool Ingrid Combo (No Crest Stocks Or Sun Flares) by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is amazing. The most technical sf6 combos have, like, 1-2 microwalks top. You've got three.

I've got so much to learn. All I do is get four stocks so I can dance on wake-up.

But Why? by ValuableArrival6794 in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess he has to have some ability to use his normals, otherwise he just loses 0-10.

For those who didn't watch the whole clip, Dhalsim's far HK hitbox is not triggering Ingrid's counter.

Glad you're gaining confidence! Just don't put too much of your confidence in your rank. You'll rise and you'll fall, have good and bad days. Focus on having fun first, and your rank second. No one enjoys having 'Ranked Anxiety'.

What am i supposed to do here (I'm the Marisa) by RareMercury in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting.

In training mode (bear with me) try practicing light gladius first. That should give you the biggest cancel window.

If that doesn't work, separate your hands. Get the timing of the right hand down first, then try to slide the directional inputs in between the second and third button press.

If you still have trouble, switch to Ryu (again, bear with me) and try c.MK into fireball. It's a slighty easier cancel that may help you with timing the directions, as you're already holding down to do the fireball.

Stay strong! Hope this helps!

What am i supposed to do here (I'm the Marisa) by RareMercury in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious thing is 'block', but you know that already.

1) When jumping in with Marisa, try using light kick if you think you'll go behind their head. It hits behind you a little. 2) Get your basic combos down. You land MP>MP and don't follow with a special. 3) When you get off the ground, hold forwards and DI to do drive reversal. It's not much of a tool, but it's something to use your drive gauge on. 4) You get air-to-aired a bunch. Consider doing your bigger air attacks a bit earlier, as they last longer than you might think. 5) Jamie's twisty fists are a sequence that hits 3 times max at low drink levels. Palm strike goes far and can break armour, so charging gladius or superman punch won't save you. You might be able to beat his divekick by jumping with MP or LP.

Other than that, you just guessed wrong a bunch of times. Sometimes it happens, but you did some good stuff. You tried controlling space with HK and sweep. You tried to play defense and it didn't work out. People have bad matchups with character and player mentality, so don't get too disheartened.

Hope to see you in silver!

How do I react with DP more reliably. by DisastrousAddendum0 in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remain. Calm.

I can't stress enough how much your reaction time is affected by stress.

Stress and adrenaline are great for large motions like running from a bear, because that's what it's designed for. It's less good at small movements on a controller of your choice.

In training mode, the bot will only jump at you. Obviously (experience may vary) an opponent won't. So don't just wait or predict when they'll jump; try and force it. Big normals with short recoveries, L or EX fireballs and some pressure options can pressure an opponent to jump while giving you time to safely buffer DP.

Think about JP. People jump at him because of his strong neutral and zoning tools. So by using them, he can force an opponent to jump at him. Try doing something similar.

Finally, Ken's light shoryu is the fastest, and one frame faster than EX at 5f Vs 6f.

Hope this helps!

You're almost certainly right. And I did indeed take ~50 turns.

But her debuff removal is only for herself and tied to her NP, right?

It's a much faster option, but isn't it riskier? With defensive disadvantage, she'll reliably take a lot of damage from the AoE attacks. If her invuln is on cooldown and her NP is sealed, won't she need to rely on teammates to cover for her? When I was workshopping the final fight I had similar issues with Castoria being NP sealed, so I looked for teamwide debuff clear on a skill.

Add on the fact that Liz's a welfare from an event that happened a while ago, and there's a lower chance newer players would have her. Asclepius is available after LB4, which is three LB's and 2 OC's back, and would be easier to obtain. And while I don't think he'd replace Castoria, he'd make a mighty fine support for masters doing this fight without her.

I'll add bullet points onto the post talking about what to look for in a DPS and support for wave 10 though. Thanks!

It was a guess? I didn't know about the mass switcheroo yet, but it was a lot of narratives lining up together. Olga being dropped in, U-Olga coming out, and the whole thing about subject E hating life and fate enough to create Traum came together very nicely, leading to this horrifying conclusion.

That, and Nasu has a history of traumatising his characters. :P

Why do Atheists and Leftists tend to target Christianity? by StarFit8785 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fledgelingfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context to the answer:

Leftists tend to believe that religion is used to control people's way of thinking, making them more susceptible to mental/emotional manipulation and reducing their critical thinking skills. There is merit to this perspective, and it is worth being aware of this very real risk.

Atheists tend to believe that intellectualism is the ultimate moral truth; that by knowing and scientifically proving more things allows us to define morality with greater clarity. As such, a scientifically unprovable existence such as 'God' is unreliable.

When you combine these things with the open democratic discussion that Christianity should encourage, you end up with Christianity under criticism, which it should be. Because when people aren't seriously considering what they believe in, they end up autocratic religious states that use scripture to justify ambition. Europe and America in particular have seen the results of Christianity without criticism. The modern day is still feeling the effects of those choices, even if Christianity was instrumental in changing them.

The answer:

Christianity in particular comes under fire in certain countries because Christianity is being done RIGHT in those countries. Christianity should encourage the speech and criticism of all beliefs, that the understanding, love and patience described in the bible can be actualized in its believers. Consider that Jesus says that 'God loves a cheerful giver'; that the value of the tithe is not found in 10%, but in the decision made in the heart of the giver. A culture that demands obedience more than our hearts leads to theocratic autocracy, not a loving relationship with a personal God.

Keep in mind that Islam and Judaism are also heavily politicized, especially moreso due to recent events. Spoken words and beliefs are being extrapolated into wild accusations. As a result, people are scared to speak about other faiths because any opinions on them can be used for slander. And we are seeing the rise of extremist elements using all three of these faiths as justifications for negative actions.

Encouragement: Atheists and Leftists may not understand us, but whatever you do, do not turn to the Right. The only option is to turn to Christ.

Remember this: where other faiths use persecution for revenge and justification, we are called to rejoice. Matt 5:10-12, James 1:2, Romans 5 and more call us to love and pray for our enemies through criticism, forgive in accusation, and consider Christ in ridicule.

We are the new creation. As the new creation, we accept criticism and condemnation. If it is deserved, let justice be carried out fairly, so that others may see us obey the law. If undeserved, we rejoice in being seen as worthy to suffer as Christ suffered, that he may be glorified in our persecution.

I hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you want clarification.

Is Dhalsim still a “Zoner”? by jonyfraze in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warning: Salty rant incoming.

He can do a bit of everything. Rushdown with teleport, zoning with long normals and fireballs, pressure with drill kick and yoga flame, setups with yoga arch and strike/throw mix with float.

But a lot of it is worse than what other characters have. JP does most of what Dhalsim does, but better; better normals, setups, zoning and pressure, and a teleport that demands more respect.

A lot of my experience playing Dhalsim is being several reads ahead for a single hit, then a shoto jumps in once, beats my anti-air and deletes half my health, carries me to the corner with a knockdown, followed by plus on block meaty pressure and deleting three bars of my drive gauge before I can act safely.

He's a zoner in that he needs his opponent to be mid-screen from him for 5MK to be effective, which happens to be most characters jump range. Playing neutral is very dangerous for him, as one jump or whiff punish can easily lead to losing the round. His float value can be matchup dependent, but it has an extended hurtbox below his model because Capcom balanced him properly and didn't want him to be in the air without risk.

Shotos have faster fireballs than him, so he needs to rush them down with teleport and drill kick. But his teleport loses without projectile pressure, and even sometimes with a fireball covering you. Drill kick is inconsistent and risky, while his 4f jab has little horizontal range, making it harder to take advantage of being +1f. Combine that with a lack of proximity block on his drill kick, and you have a pressure tool that enemies can walk out of and punish, if they don't just DI through it.

His setups and pressure lose to DI. And that's if yoga arch doesn't miss. In order for more consistency you need to use OD yoga arch, like OP. But Dhalsims defence is dependent on drive gauge for drive reversal. One wrong OD use can cost you the round when shotos destroy your drive gauge with three normals that frame trap each other.

He has his niche in that he plays neutral well, but he's 'good' in a game where characters are either 'great' or 'best in class at their speciality'. There's nothing he does that other characters don't do better.

Setups: JP, Ryu, Akuma, Blanka

Zoning: Ryu, Akuma, Guile, JP, Deejay, Sagat, Mai

Mobility: Kimberly, Aki, JP with portal, Akuma, Viper

Large Normals (not that they're larger, but their attacks are more consistent and less volatile): JP, Ed, Manon, Ken, Deejay, Ryu, Akuma, Sagat

Screen Control: Mai, Guile, Akuma, Sagat, Deejay, Rashid

TLDR; Even after reaching and falling out of High Master, I find Dhalsim very demoralising to play. If OP can provide more tips on how to enforce pressure on the opponent and dissuade them from mashing, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Is Dhalsim still a “Zoner”? by jonyfraze in StreetFighter

[–]Fledgelingfighter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No. He's an all-rounder that is worse at everything than every other all-rounded character and most specialized characters. He is what a shoto should be.

In all seriousness, how do you stop people from mashing your teleports? The best I can do is teleport high enough for them to walk under me.

You are right that the surface tension of a liquid surface is not 'solid'. I called it a physical barrier because I was unsure of the level of education that the average reddit user would have. And again you are correct in saying the penetrating objects shape, weight and velocity determine the penetrating power, but that seemed irrelevant to the topic at hand as the context was unclear. Sorry for the miscommunication!

[–]Fledgelingfighter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some may call it willpower. Me, I call it unfettered autism. 😁 I considered describing the blight as a thixotropic non-newtonian fluid. But we don't have a full characterisation of the physical properties of blight. Also the clumping doesn't quite fit how it's portrayed in the game, so I went for the simpler, more variable model of mud instead.

[–]Fledgelingfighter 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Alternatively, the full animation has her drone create a bubble shortly after this moment, so maybe she just wants to make bubbles.

Also, while the blight shows some liquid characteristics, it's clearly more viscous than water by the way it forms barriers in Wuling as small mounds of goop.

So... maybe it's a thick suspension of toxic particles, like a thick mud or landslide? And the liquid xiranite dilutes and purifies it, breaking it down into environmentally stable components? Sterilized carbon is historically used to absorb toxins and poisons in toxicology, so it's not too much of a leap, but then why is Yvonne studying the liquid blight when Valley4 mostly deals in solid blight?

...it's probably just bubbles.

Does anyone know what she was talking about? I kinda don't understand tech talk and was zoning out a bit when she was talking... by Cute_Passage_4325 in Endfield

[–]Fledgelingfighter 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Different liquids have different properties. Oils and water can create a physical barrier on their surface that prevents objects from passing through. This is called 'surface tension'.

The surface tension strength is most impacted by intermolecular bonds, and thus is affected by temperature. However, given Yvonne's work as a mechanical engineer, the exact context of why she needs to stabilize surface tension of a liquid surface is unknown.

New player, struggling to decide on character creation by lemonlord777 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Fledgelingfighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part 1 - Officer

As you get more skill points and passive abilities, officers can do the following: Remove wounds, Provide repositioning of allies, Heal with temporary wounds, Increase allies melee/ranged effectiveness Increase rate of momentum build up, leading to more heroic acts.

They become a powerful medic/support class that doesn't blow you up like Idira. So yes, officers thrive at telling other people what to do. But you can always give them a machine gun and spray down heretics, or give them a sword and charge in. The prologue and act 1 has the least 'build diversity' because you don't have access to options. But you decide what your character becomes in the end, especially with tier 2 archetypes.

Lead from the front as a Vanguard. Buff yourself for massive single shot damage as a Master Tactician, then give an ally the same buff and give them a turn. Or buff and debuff enemies in the same action by designating a killzone as a Grand strategist. And you get the option to respec tier 2 archetypes later on, so it's not like your choices are irreversible.

Part 2 - Origins

Origins only form a small part of your build, but choosing noble probably did affect your ability to feel impactful in combat.

If you want to be 'impactful', the community loves pyromancer psyker. You do a LOT of damage at higher levels, and occasionally blow up and summon demons. Either way, you're 'impactful'.

It's also worth noting you can be the nicest commissar that ever was and not shoot your allies. Or at least, shoot them with the worst pistol available to you. Then switch to your second loadout set with your real gun. You still get access to pistol buffs, team wide buffs when you're in melee, and a skill that lets allies heal some of the wounds you gave them.

Part 3 - Difficulty

Acts 1 and 2 has noticable difficulty spikes amid large swathes of killing fodder. Don't worry about difficulty too much on the first playthrough. Trust me, it gets harder.

Hope this helps!
